Re: Gabapenten used thru the night

There is another issue with gabapentin. It is only absorbed by a short length of the intestinal tract, s...

Re: Augmentation again (of course)

There are two approaches used to getting off of dopamine agonists. One is to simply stop taking it assuming that you are at a low level. This will cause several weeks of very little sleep and lots of misery. The second is to use a low dose opioid to cover the symptoms of withdrawal from the dopamine...

Re: Nonmedication strategies for RLS by Shalini Paruthi,MD

My first comment is that you should understand that Dr. Paruthi has RLS herself, so she is one doctor who understands what we go through. Second, she was asked to write a column on non-medication approaches to treating RLS. I know this because I submitted a similar column that wasn't used because th...

Re: Hyland's Restful Legs

If you read the fine print on the Hylands package, you will see a disclaimer that says that it is not a treatment for RLS. Of course, this is buried in the fine print so that they can sell it to unsuspecting RLS patients who are desperate for relief.

Re: Gabapenten used thru the night

The half life of gabapentin is only about 4 hrs, so what you are doing by boosting your dose through the night makes sense. I take 900mg shortly before at bedtime so that I can fall asleep. I also eat a 5mg THC (marijuana) edible. The edible THC takes about 2 hrs to kick in, which means that it star...
