Re: Does anyone successfully use ONLY an anti-convulsant?
I just got an email from the WED Foundation that said that recent research showed that Lyrica (pregabalin) was just as effective as Mirapex but without the risk of making symptoms worse. Study sheds light on treatment for Willis-Ekbom disease (restless legs syndrome): Pregabalin (Lyrica) found as ef...

Re: Have Meds, Like To Travel
I do the same thing as Anne, except mine is for Adderall. It saved me a couple years ago when there was a nationwide Adderall shortage - I had to call from pharmacy to pharmacy to find one that had any in stock. I filled it three times that whole year. Thankfully I had built up a stash and was able ...

Re: it's getting worse again :(
I seriously hate dealing with my doctor's staff. My psych's nurse understands only about half of what I am trying to tell her and it's SO frustrating! And then they get mad at you for insisting on something out-of-the-ordinary (like 30 mins instead of 15) without realizing all of the background. I'm...

Help for constipation caused by opiates
The link to this product is worth sharing just for the reviews - I was laughing so hard I was crying! But the intestinal effects might be helpful for those of you on opiates...just make sure you start with one or two gummy bears, not a handful!

Re: Curcumin to reduce inflammation
Gulp... !! I wonder if it works as a single dose, something to use only on a bad night when nothing else has helped and desperation is knocking at the door. As opposed to using on a regular basis. Sigh... Guess I will make sure to only take one a day at the most, and less if I can. It took a couple...

Could you share the link to that info? I'd like to read more about that.

Re: Adderall
Adderall both stimulates release of dopamine and norepinephrine, and inhibits their reuptake, so there's more sitting around in one's brain.
Where did you hear that stimulants are bad for WED?

Curcumin to reduce inflammation
When my recent iron test results indicating Anemia of Chronic Disease (full-body inflammation) I did some research on it and Curcumin came up as a possible treatment to reduce the inflammation. I ordered this supplement: ( Curcumin from Amazon) and I have been amazed at the results. Some of you may ...

I'm sorry. Is there any reason that you can think of that might have triggered it to get worse?

Re: Not sure this is rls
How much pain medication were you taking? I'm wondering if it was withdrawal from the opiates, which can often cause RLS-like sensations.

Re: Elevated Iron
It could be Anemia of Chronic Disease. I would get a SED test and C-reactive protein test to check for inflammation. Not to scare you but it can be an indicator of a serious underlying disorder, like cancer. http://www.irondisorders.org/anemia-of-chronic-disease http://www.irondisorders.org/Websites...

Re: Published Research - Auditory startle reflex
The auditory startle reflex has more to do with how quickly your body goes into freak-out mode. You startle more easily in a scary situation, and less easily when you are relaxed and comfortable. I found this article which summarizes all the known disorders with exaggerated auditory startle reflexes...

I also grind my teeth and get hormonal migraines. I first found out I grind my teeth when I was 20 and my ears started hurting - it was referred pain from the joint. I didn't get WED until I was 33, so I'm not sure about a common cause for me. My mom also grinds her teeth badly - she wore her teeth ...

Re: Iron/Ferritin Test Results
I am not sure. I went through this all three years ago, and I had a negative SED test but didn't take a C-reactive protein test. My doctor felt that my body was responding to the generalized stress of being sleep-deprived. And I'm not dead, so it probably wasn't cancer, as is often the case with ane...
