Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

I can’t believe prescribing a nightly dose of OxyContin for RLS would be a big deal. I think all this opioid stuff has gone overboard.

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

I have been trying using only the Lyrica. It doesn't do anything for the RLS. It does make me sleepy but I need my legs to be still. I don't have a problem going to sleep. I end up getting up and taking the 10mg of Oxycontin. My neurologist did mention she may refer me to a pain doctor if I continue...

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

Sorry I haven't been active lately. Life has been busy and I went on vacation too. I'm totally off the Requip since 9/8/17. Thankfully the Oxycontin 10 mg every 12 hours for 11 days got me through the withdrawal period with little discomfort. I feel so much better during the day. I'm not having any ...

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

Good idea about the Lyrica because it just makes me sleepy. I can't tell it does anything for the RLS. It is my neurologist that I'm seeing in 2 weeks. I'm so fortunate to have a dr that is willing to learn and work with me. I feel very blessed after reading the experiences of others. I've been taki...

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

My restlessness is starting between 4-7pm now. I take a 10mg dose of OxyContin. The last 2 nights it was worn off around 2-3:00am. I stretch and walk around. This helps. I did break down and take another dose of OxyContin at 3:00am. So the start of my afternoon restlessness varies. I will try the Kr...

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

I have not taken OxyContin during the day for the last 2 days! Done great! No symptoms until 7:30pm both days. Took 10 mg OxyContin which allowed me to sleep all night. I'm so happy!!

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

Sounds awful! I've been Requip free for 10 nights :) I'm on the OxyContin for a month. Hopefully my Dr will refill it at the end of the month.

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

Thanks. That at least gives me an idea of what to expect. The OxyContin is controlling my symptoms thankfully. Also on Lyrica 150 mg 3/ day.

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

Sleepdancer2, How long did it take for you to get thru the withdrawal and augmentation? My dr. decreased my dose of Requip to 1mg from 3mg (at one point I was on 6mg!!) I'm hoping I get thru the augmentation while my dr is still willing and able to write for the Oxycontin. I've been off Requip for 8...

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

Thanks Polar Bear, I will check out Bad Night's signature line. I just joined the Foundation and received my copy of Night Walkers this week! Thanks Rustsmith for pointing this article out to me. I will definitely take it with me to my next dr appointment at the end of this month. It's great having ...

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

My ferritin level was 185. I've always run a high hemoglobin and hematocrit too. One dr checked me for polycythemia and said he didn't think I had it based on other labs. I started taking 365 mg of iron 3X week a month ago to see if it would help with my symptoms. I'm due more blood work in Nov so w...

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

I will keep this in mind. I guess right now it seems scary to think about taking a DA again but in the future I can see where this would be a feasible thing to do to keep the rls under control. I feel the best I've felt in a very long time with the 10mg of Oxycontin every 12 hours and Lyrica 150 mg ...

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

Thanks. Due to my research on this forum and rls website I've been able to educate myself and my neurologist. I just thank God she is receptive to learning and listening to my input. So far my dopamine agonist withdrawal hasn't been too bad with the Oxycontin and Lyrica

Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

I'm new here. In a nutshell I've have RLS since I was in my 20's and I'm 58 now. Took Mirapex for 6 years. When I maxed out on it my dr started me on Requip. I maxed it out at 6 mg plus my symptoms were starting earlier in the day and more severe. I found out by searching the internet I was in augm...
