Are you aware of impulse control disorder? If your physician thinks binge eating might be a sign of developing ICD, it's time to swtcth drugs.

Re: Pramipexole Problems
TimG, I hope you're aware of the very real danger of impulse control disorder on Mirapex and the other dopamine agonist drugs. The uncontrollable impulse can be eating, gambling, shopping, sex. It has ruined lives. Did you gain weight because of an uncontrollable urge to eat? I'm no expert so I don'...

Re: RLS/WED and meditation
I try to do walking and moving meditation. Lots of yoga. I mostly follow DVDs instead of on my own, nowadays, so I choose instructors with calm voices, otherwise it's a work-out not a meditation. But I've been failing lately, the last 3-4 weeks, and I can feel my stress level rising, the old vicious...

Re: Curious about others
My sister got RLS/WED in all three pregnancies, but has none now. She had to get out of bed and do squats. I don't recall having it in pregnancy (not any more than I've always had it, which is mildly forever) but I had my kids in my twenties whereas she had hers in her 30's (and 40 for the last one ...

Re: Tried Mirapex again and thought it helped.
Some people take pramipexole/Mirapex in the daytime too. If you have daytime symptoms that are getting in the way of life, you might want to try that. If your dose is already high, though, you might think about supplementing with something else, maybe an anti-convulsant, so as to avoid flirting with...

Re: How do you increase your ferritin levels?
Some people take oral iron supplements and nothing happens, whereas for other people their ferritin goes up. Whether that's because they're taking different types of supplements, or their iron absorption physiologies are different, or their RLS/WED is different, no one knows. Some people have taken ...

Re: Hello from UT
tanya, clearly your medication is inadequate. It is not enough to cover off your symptoms. You need to make that clear to your doctor. She or he should then suggest options (increase the dose, try a drug that's more effective for severe daily RLS/WED, add a drug). If your doctor is not experienced w...

Linda: It's not actually a drug holiday if you merely reduce, a holiday is when you stop completely for a time. I don't know if reducing has been effective for anyone in allowing the drug to regain its effectiveness; I've only heard of stopping completely. Angierob: I would be very leery of increasi...

Re: What happens after maximum dose of Requip is reached?
There is such a thing as tolerance (diminished response after prolonged exposure) that applies to the DAs. That said, I don't recall anyone posting on this board in my time here about tolerance that could be proved to have been tolerance, and not progression or augmentation. There's also rebound tha...

Ask if they can set it up so that you can move one leg while they operate on the other. If you're like me, moving one helps with the grief in the other.

Re: Abilify
agreed there are lots of different opioids available, but what you end up taking probably will have more to do with what your doctor is comfortable with than with what you think. Methadone is never the first one suggested, and is never ever suggested by many physicians. I'm not sure why you suggest ...

Re: RLS/WED VS PLM please help
Ferritin is a protein that transports iron in the blood. Its levels do correlate positively with WED symptom severity, which is thought from other evidence to correlate with low iron in parts of the brain, so probably it does tell us something about iron in the brain, though I wouldn't know why. But...

Re: Mirapex, Horizant, Requip
I'm curious as to whether the Mirapex or Requip had any initial benefit at all. Was there any improvement in symptoms due to taking either one, ever?
