At my worst, my symptoms start mid-morning. 10am or so.

I don't have any good answer for relief, just saying "Yes. It happens."

I was born and raised in Michigan -- moved out to Los Angeles about three years ago. Dr. B has been a life-saver. I'd be happy to help you figure out a trip to LA to see him, if you plan to come out this way! Delta flies non-stop from DTW. Message me, if you are thinking about seeing Dr. Buchfuhrer!

Article in Parents Magazine

Hi Everyone -- I just wanted to share with you that I had an interview today with a writer for Parents Magazine. She is writing an article on RLS and pregnancy, and interviewed both Dr. Buchfuhrer and myself (I think a few other people, too). The article will be published sometime in the Spring. I'l...

Hi Sarah, I have been a little panicky, but I don't think it's related to the Methadone. I think it's hormones related to pregnancy (pre-/post-natal). Yeah, 30 mgs is a big dose to start out with. When I transitioned over to Methadone from Tramadol (via a week of Oxy), I started with around 2 or 3mg...

I just wanted to follow up: Methadone and breastfeeding is compatible. Jax is now almost 5 months, 18 lbs, 24" long. Totally normal developmentally. Won't roll yet (legs too fat and short?? takes after his dad, lol), but sits up unassisted and will pull himself up onto his feet, if you hold his...

@ViewsAskew, you are right. Once you augment on a dopamine agonist, you can not take another dopamine agonist. It's time for opioids at that point. This is what Dr. B told me on my first appointment with him. I was taking some dangerous giant dose of Mirapex daily (thanks to the old neurologist), an...

Most honestly? If you're already so far away from a doc, and that one doesn't even seem decent... do not pass go. do not collect $200. go directly to Dr. Buchfuhrer in Los Angeles. Why deal with all the horsefeathers of these other docs? Go to the horse himself. Wait, he's not a horse, he's a great ...

Hi Sarah -- I think it is a great idea to get Dr. B on board with everything. He is very conservative with pregnant women. You are in good hands. I think if you want to breastfeed, you will have to go on Methadone. It is the only AAP approved pain med. I had to educate my pediatrician on it, I just ...

Hi Sarah! I'm sorry I haven't checked in on you lately. I've been busy, so they say, with baby Jax (and big brother Joe). Jax had to have surgery (to correct hypospadias, totally unrelated to all the RLS jazz, it runs in my husband's family) this month, so it's been particularly nutty around here, b...

I would ask to see Dr. Frye's evidence. I never came across anything negative about methadone during pregnancy. I encourage you to go to her with the articles I have, and have a long discussion about this.

Announcing Baby Jaxon! Born 4/6/11 at 9:22 pm, 6 lbs 2 oz, 19" long. Most importantly, he is doing FINE. He is a lot smaller than my first was. I don't know if this can be attributed to the Methadone, or not. He has been checked every 4 hrs (BP, heart, general behavior, Q's about feeding and di...

Hi Zach, Good comments and questions here. Thanks! From what my doctors have told me, Oxycodone isn't a preferred medication over Methadone, because long-term use of Oxycodone during pregnancy tends to cause more symptoms of NAS, than Methadone does. Methadone also tends to be more effective in lowe...
