Re: blood donation
I was told that I should not donate blood because of the adverse effects of the RLS. They also could not be sure what my medications (was Mirapex) did to the donation. Hi Becat. Was this the adverse effects to your RLS or to the blood because of the RLS? I have donated for 25 years, but until recen...

Me, too, sort of
I'm relatively new to the board so am going through all the older posts and found this one. I have always had both, but only had RLS once or twice a month and had PLMs every night. I wish I knew what would help, because I am right now having a similar problem. To make a long story short, I had treme...

Who's going?
I decided just a few days ago to go to the conference; I have a friend who lives a mile away so it makes it much more economical! Besides Becat, who can I look forward to meeting?

Already called. . .
Thanks, Nadia, I spent a week crossfererencing any doctor from this list to my insurance and then to my primary care physician's group. Only 2 of the doctors listed are in that group. I got the appointment in February. Then I called every doctor that was in my insurance, but not in my primary care's...

Get any help?
Carol, I'm also in Chicago and am waiting 4 months to see a neuro that specialized in RLS (after "firing" the one who didn't and totally screwed up my meds). Just waiting for sleep to come tonight so am scrolling through old posts and saw this. Have you found any relief from any of the other posts h...

Count me in
Same here. I'm not sure who it's more unnerving for, me or my partner . When you have to jump up out of the bed immediately after it gives the wrong impression! Good thing we're together for the long haul and he knows it's not about him. One thing that helps me it to have sex earlier in the day. Now...

Works better for us
We just bought a memory foam mattress last week. After a week, I'd say we're both much happier. I'm not sure it makes me sleep better, but I know that he doesn't feel my movements nearly as much, so I am more comfortable being there. It was expensive, but it was worth it. Supposedly they last for 20...

My thoughts. . .
It sounds like you've been through the proverbial wringer. My thoughts are with you. Here is a link to a site that lists all drugs that are used and the usual dosages. I use this info when I see my primary care doctor, while I await a in the distance appointment with a new neurologist. The website i...

Re: Sugar
Hi Ann (Hi Lyn), it's Jan You seem to be pretty intelligent and you seem to know quite a bit about how the nervous system works. Since RLS can be hereditary and some RLS patients eventually are diagnosed with fibromyalgia, do you supppose that fibro can also be inherited? Thanks for your answer in ...

Count me in
I also do this, as did my grandmother and and does my mother. I only do it when the RLS is active, though. For me, it stops the need to move the legs and it stops the electricity feeling. When that doesn't work anymore, then I start walking.

Thanks for the link
Becat I appreciate the link. . .goes to show what a little searching on my own would have done . I'm surprised no one was that interested in the topic, especially as several people have indicated additions. Well, it's my guess that no one knows what they are really doing by playing with these neurot...

Registration?
I'd like to go to the conference - if I book a flight right now, it's not too expensive. But I can't see anywhere on this site to register!!! If anyone knows how, please let me know. I don't want to book my flight until I know that I can register.

Addictions and RLS. . .
I was reading the "My RLS Mountain" posts from the last couple of days and I started thinking (dangerous, I know!). I used to be a smoker and have struggled with weight since I was a child. I absolutely use food (specifically sugar and fat) the way someone else might use drugs or alcohol: to self-me...
