Re: 15 years is way too long

Kratom did work for my husband, a recovering alcoholic. His careless doctor put him on Oxy after knee surgery, but I managed to switch him to Kratom before he got really hooked. It's also all I use for RLS. But I use many different kinds, and I'm casual about doses--using what I need at the moment a...

Re: Hot Tub?

I sold real estate for a while, and made sure I understood the Fair Housing Law. Not only does it deal with non-discrimination issues, it also deals with issues of disability. Generally, a condo has to allow any reasonable accommodation to a unit that helps a person who otherwise cannot live there. ...

Re: Allaying friends' concerns re: kratom

I've been taking kratom for over five years, and for most of these years I've been seeing a gastroenterologist who has been doing a liver panel every six months on me. And my liver is just fine. I take 10-16 grams a day--usually in 2 gram doses--and apparently that hasn't affected my liver at all. I...

Red Borneo is supposed to be the most sedating, but I sleep fine with Maeng Da as well. Perhaps we just react differently to each strain.

Re: Kratom physiology

I'd like to recommend Velvet Soul Naturals. m I have used them for almost five years now. Their kratom is always finely ground and tastes fresh. Plus they kept selling even when it looked like it would become Schedule 1. They call it Mitragyna, rather than kratom. I think that's the main ingredient ...

Re: Kratom physiology

I read in the little bit of research I could find that while kratom was not water soluble, it dissolve in acid. So if it sits in pineapple juice, or orange juice (which I use) it does dissolve after awhile. I've also found that mixing up strains helps its effectiveness. If I wake up still sleepy, gr...

Re: Kratom physiology

Yes, we really do need good research on kratom. It's one reason to fight so hard against the FDA scheduling it as a category 1 drug, as that pretty much shuts down research. I will say that I am on my 5th year of using only kratom to control my RLS symptoms, and it is still working well, although I'...

Re: Gabapentin Side Effect

Hi Mark, I was on Gabapentin for a short time, but when I tried to get off of it it took a very long time. So if you're cutting back, be careful. I got down to one pill, and then I cut it in half, and then I had to cut the halves in half. And then take that quarter every other day, before I could fi...

Re: What Calms You in the Night?

I drink a little kratom and orange juice while walking around, and then, after about a half an hour, I can go back to bed. In bed I always listen to an audio book, and it has to be a book that I know well and love. Paris in Love: A Memoir by Eloisa James is my favorite for drifting off to sleep easi...

The Calm Legs helped me before my RLS got so bad. Now it doesn't. But it's good and has no side effects.

Re: Whacha readin?

I watched it for a bit, but found other shows I like much better. Law and Order, SVU is good. I love Hawaii 5-0 and Madame Secretary, if that's still on. Can't think offhand now but will try to add later. Other ones that you like?

Five Years on Kratom

I'm coming up to my fifth year using only kratom to control my RLS symptoms, and thought some members of this board might find my experience useful. First--and maybe most importantly--I never took a DA. Fairly soon after my RLS became a daily issue, I discovered kratom, and never looked back. I'm wo...

War on Pain Pills

Reason Magazine has an excellent article about the way current medical practice is taking away a patient's ability to control pain.

Re: Magnesium and CoQ10

Re: CoQ10, and magnesium. These are two of the four supplements that Dr. Sinatra (writes books) says keep the cells in your heart healthy and so prevent attacks. I've taken CoQ10 and magnesium for years, and recently added the other two, L-Carnitine and D-ribose. I don't know if they work, but I've ...

Yes. And, if you can, please donate money to the American Kratom Association. Here is an example of things they are doing:
