Re: low iron and DA
Ditto Ann, if you have the $, the new one will likely be worth it, though I haven't seen it yet, simply because it will have the recommendation for 75-100 ng/ml ferritin, it iwll expose the link between low ferritin and augmentation on DAs, and it will probably say, in print, that opioids are recomm...

Re: Mirapex and requip
Well another way to look at it, is that you;re not getting enough sleep because your medication is not effective! Imagine saying it the other way around.... It may be true that opioids are less effective at pain relief when you;re tired, but the plain fact (plain to me?) is that you're tired because...

Re: Finally, no more pramipexole !!!!
Just a doctor knowledgeable about WED would do wonders for you; would be able to sort out what medication to use for WED, after which any other problems, if they existed still, would be diagnosable. I am not sure your unknowledgeable GP would be able to help, but... it does seem wierd to be growing ...

You're already helping others. It's helpful just to know you exist and have similar issues!

Re: Venting!
I'm curious, why does everyone seem to have such nightmares with giving up Mirapex but not Sinemet? People with daily WED are NEVER prescribed Sinemet these days. I think by the early '90's the information was out there, that people with daily WED should not be given Sinemet because it caused augme...

So, maybe he would not be receptive to a sincere request that he consider the 4 criteria if he has not done so already, cuz maybe he has already and he's sick of hearing about it...

It's useless time. I can't think at those times; I can read books, but I am too distracted and unfocussed to do anything useful.

It might be the method they're using to detect iron. The original studies sliced open dead brains. Other studies sampled spinal fluid and measured iron directly in it. This study is relying on indirect methods. (Iron deposits affect the T2 MRI signal, which affect the SI, which is measured. I have n...

Re: zopiclone (imovane)
Side-effects, as always, are different for different people. The z-drugs, as they are called colloquially, include zopiclone, zolpidem, zaleplon, and eszopiclone. They are a different class of drugs than benzodiazepenes. Some if not all? z-drugs have shorter half-lives than benzodiazepenes and there...

Re: Beagle's Story and Questions
Wow, what a mistake. Over and over, it is made clear to me that we have to manage our own health care, learn things for ourselves, and make sure we understand why our doctors do what they do. What about all the unfortunate people who can't do this, or who never learned they should? The suffering tha...

Well, if only things could work that way! I'm a long way from trusting an algorithm to interpret my emotions for people. I can just see, I'm angry at myself for doing something, while writing to someone about their troubles, and the sensitive keyboard tells the recipient that I'm angry about their t...

Re: Mad-1 device: I use it and it works!
Sort of an aside, but I found a meta-analysis (analysis of a gorup of studies) that compared numerous physical methods for relieving osteoarthritis knee pain. m - Ineffective: manual acupuncture, static magnets, ultrasound therapy. - Somewhat effective: PEMF - Effective: TENS, electro-acupuncture, l...
