In my mind, relaxation to an RLS sufferer is like grain alcohol to a recovering alcoholic. Sometimes I get overcome with exhaustion in the evening, and even though I know it's going to mess up my attempt to sleep for real later in the night, I give up and let myself fall asleep. Naturally, since it...

I've actually had a cervical MRI. That's how I know which disc is iffy. It only bulges slightly, and on the MRI there was no sign of internal matter herniation, so it really is pretty borderline. I have a similar disc down in the lumbar area, but no apparent symptoms from that one. My best guess is ...

Desperation is what snake oil merchants rely on. And, alas, there's a worldwide surplus of it.

PS: Here are good to-do lists for a stolen card (number): m m There are more such lists, but you get the idea. The important bit is having the reporting agencies attach a fraud alert to your records. You can use it to make sure no credit is issued without your permission. Also get a credit report in...

That sucks, Ann. Glad you caught it quickly. The two best things I've learned after being the victim of credit card fraud twice now: 1) When on the internet, use only credit cards that offer "one-time use" online card numbers. Discover is the one I use. You go to the card website, ask for ...

Oh, well, I suppose I should mention that I already fired that particular neurologist. Mind you, all he said about the disc is that it was unlikely, not that it couldn't be the problem. However, that's exactly the useless sort of vague conclusion he came to with everything, and that useless vaguenes...

I don't think there's much you can do to treat an iffy disc, other than to treat it kindly and carefully.

Y'know, I personally think exploding head syndrome is much more common than believed. I happened to mention it here a few months back, and after some people talked about it in their own terms, I realized I'd had it myself for a while. I'd been hearing a really loud chime as I fell asleep. It would u...

moonlight-- I would suggest a spinal MRI, especially of the cervical vertebrae. Let me explain why... At one point, I had a lot of peripheral tingling, and the left side of my body would feel like it was hot, especially when I'd lie on my right side. Sounds like it's in the same ballpark as your sym...

Oh, I didn't mean you, Susan. I just want people in general to question things they're told more than they do, even when those things come from authority figures.

PS: I think I did quote the entire paragraph...?

That doctor is ignorant and dangerous. Find another one. Just make sure that you tell the new one what happened with the last one, up front, because they will inevitably find out anyway. In some cases, you wouldn't want a doctor to know the dark side of your history, but this isn't one of them. And ...

doety-- First, and sorry to say the obvious, but I want to make sure it's said: Please don't drive again until you address the problem. You could easily kill or injure both yourself and/or multiple other people. You could also end up in jail on a DUI charge. It's just not safe. We don't want to see ...

I have a high startle response, and it definitely will produce physical jumpiness, etc.. Usually when its a problem like startle response, you will know because it will always be associated with a sudden noise or disturbance. Yeah, that's probably the opioids. I get a pretty heightened started resp...

I think neurontin is pretty much the standard treatment offered for peripheral neuropathy, so it sounds like you're on the right course if that's the problem you have.

People need to learn not to believe everything they read, even when it's written by a medical professional. Keep in mind how often we talk about just how stupid and ignorant some medical professionals are. Let me give you a couple of examples that raised red flags about the authors for me: While som...
