Re: My battle with RLS.. starting to lose faith for relief

wasssy: one idea about the wild dreams: they may not have been a consequence of the opioid drug directly, but maybe were a consequence of finally sleeping. You mentioned earlier that a sleep test showed no REM and no deep sleep. When people are sleep-deprived, they often, when they finally sleep, fa...

Re: car journey

My only problem with codeine was that I sometimes tried to make do with less than I needed, and then whatever I consumed was a complete waste. By the time I knew it wasn't going to be enough, if I took more, then the peaks wouldn't coincide and I therefore wasted the additional pills as well. I was ...

I vote for the twin mattresses pushed together. Especially given your preferences for different hardnesses.

Re: does anyone really know what sets off their symptoms?

wassy, beware the caffeine in diet coke Alhtough my WED/RLS was severe and refractory, I do not have yukky horrid feelings all day; I have found relief in my medication (for now, 15 mg hydromorph contin and, 5 days out of 7, one pill of 25/100 levo-carbidopa; later, who knows; for you, who knows! so...

Re: My battle with RLS.. starting to lose faith for relief

I've learned that we can't read the side effects and learn anything from that list, because it includes all possible outcomes. No one person has them all, and not every person will get any side effects. You simply don't know if you will get any or what they might be until you try. Many people have t...

Re: Workplace Accomodation

My workplace accomodation is a table that rises and lowers so I can stand or sit at my computer. My boss, who is a bit unorthodox rescued it from the landfill, so it cost nothing but a bit of time; it used to be an opthamologist's table. I also strip out of my pants and into sweats as SOON as I get ...

I think I killed the thread; there's been no response except a rude one about restlessness in another body part. Amazing how a little bit of information can take the fun of speculation away.

Re: "Treatable???"

None of the drugs used to treat it were developed for it, none of them treat it fully in most people (the dopamine drugs for intermittent or light daily WED being an exception), none of them treat it to a significant degree in everyone. It's so hit-or-miss!

Re: How long does requip withdrawal last???

Hey jy how are you now? For some people it's bitter hard, but most people are over it in under 3 weeks. Even if it takes longer for you, it DOES end; hang in there! I don't know if this is relevant to you, probably not : some people who have been treated for RLS/WED for a while, go off the meds long...

Re: new diet

The Parkinson's drugs are the ones that Views mentioned, that cause augmentation. You both agree: (and we all agree, perhaps): Parkinsons' drugs cause augmentation (make the RLS worse) in many people.

btw gabapentin is an anti-convulsant, not a parkinson's drug.

Re: PLMD

Kimberley that's horrible, how have you managed to cope? God I wish I could take it all away. I am not surprised by your comment on quantity of life, unfortunately; I think it's clear that chronic sleep loss causes earlier death. When you posted before, you hadn't tried opiods yet, had you? Or have ...

Re: I'm finally here....

Ouch. that has to be figured out first. And from your first post, it sounds like you and your Neuro/Sleep doctor are certain you have it. First I guess I have to suggest you review the 4 criteria and question yourself as to whether each one is true for you. then, if that checks out, ditch your prima...
