Seletua, Good advice from everyone. ANY antidepressant can be very problematic; they can even cause RLS is people who've never had it before, so you can imagine what they can do if we have RLS to start. The werid thing is they don't affect all of us the same way - but since you are having a devilish...

Published Research - Pharmaceutical

Today I read about safinamide, a new drug in Phase II trials that "resulted in a significant improvement in all efficacy parameters studied when administered to patients with Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). Safinamide was also found to be well tolerated and did not exhibit any clinically relevant...

Hi Carol Ann, It's so frustrating to get it back after it's been gone, isn't it? I am always depressed when that happens. I, too, hope we get some better solutions to this. It sounds like it could be augmentation and rebound. The rebound occurs after the dose wears off, the augmentation makes it occ...

Hi Em, did you see that post for you? Not sure where I put it, but I saw a post on another board of someone who has RLS mostly in the face, though sometimes in other places, too, like you. If you haven't see it, let me know and I'll look for where I put it.

Em, I just ran across this post on another RLS board. The poster says that his/her experience is primarily in the face:

Maybe you could post and ask some questions about that person's experience.

I'm not sure how much I can help. I can say that RLS CAN occur in any body part, so it's completely possible to be in your trunk. And, the diagnosis is made from the four criteria - which all apply to you (I think I remember reading that you wrote that!). So, is it possilbe? Absolutely. Is it RLS? M...

I've been concerned about you - was just hoping the new boss situation, the daughter moving, etc. were all just a bit much and you couldn't get here. All fingers, and toes, are crossed. Let us know when you find out and feel up to sharing. We'll be here.

Hey, Sherry! I was just thinking about you an hour or so ago. Hope all is going relatively well. That's interesting about the feeling in your spine. I don't know what's in Doans - I was a waitress years ago and remember taking them on one occasion when my back was soooo sore. They worked really well...

Some Factoids about the Drugs We Take

I was going through my notes from the 2004 conference and happened on Dr Rye's slides about drug treatments and some other information about drugs and RLS. Here are some of the new things I learned at that conference. (This was moved from the New to RLS sticky. Seems more appropriate here.) 1. 80% o...

Augmentation

A lot has been written here about augmentation (admittedly, much of it by me ). I suffered from it tremendously, so my life's mission is to prevent it from happening to others. Augmentation is simply RLS that happens earlier or more severely than usual. It happens primarily with dopamine agonists, h...

Hi Lyn,

How are things? If you get a chance, let us know. I was just thinking about you tonight and hoping both that the legs are better and that all is working out as it is supposed to with the classes.

You know, drug holiday may not be the right term for that. Maybe drug transfer, or drug exchange, lol. You're not stopping all drugs, just switching between two that do work so you don't ever get tolerance.

Gosh, Em, I have been trying to remember myself, but I can't! I often do research in waves, and then copy links here if it's new info. But I didn't copy this link, so. . .

I'll keep looking for it, too.
