Pairodocs, I appreciate the info. Apparently, I can email the docs, but some docs aren't too email-oriented, according to what I've been told. I tend to be pretty disorganized during an office visit, so maybe I don't come across too well. My wife always tells me to write everything down, and just re...

Update: Well, things aren't as rosy as I made them out on my last post. I was on clonazepam 0.5mg and about to drop my Mirapex to 0.25mg. That was a disaster. The rls just broke right through, so I had to stumble to the bathroom and take some more Mirapex. And this happened a couple of more nights. ...

Well, I'm thinking of participating in an RLS study in a hospital setting which involves staying there for 4 days while they run tests--electrodes, leg meters, blood draws, urine samples, an IV infusion of either iron or placebo, and a lumbar puncture (ouch). And then come back in two weeks for some...

Remember the first time something worked?

Do you remember the first time you took something that really helped out your rls? And how great that was? And now you realize that you'll probably never get that feeling again? A few years ago, I underwent a sleep study test to find out why I wasn't sleeping very well. The test failed because I sta...

Thanks for all the input. I really appreciate it. I've been on the clonazepam 0.5mg with 0.5mg Mirapex for four nights now and, after a rough start, it's been okay. I'm going to try reducing the Mirapex to 0.25mg tonight, you know, just for kicks (ha ha) and see what happens. I have noticed that the...

Sorry I haven't posted here in a while. Well, I saw my neuro doc a couple of days ago and I explained about how I'd like to get off the Mirapex, or at least lower the dose. He suggested a low dose of clonazepam in conjunction with a lower dose of Mirapex. So I took my 0.5mg clonazepam together with ...

My second night without Mirapex was even worse than the first. Absolutely no sleep at all. I subdued the crawlies and jerking by standing up nearly all night and listening to music. Incidentally, listening to music that has lyrics gives you something to focus on, if that helps anyone. I'm giving up ...

Well, this is a LOT harder than I thought it would be. Last night, I didn't take any Mirapex (the first time I'd skipped a dose in about 4 years) and it was horrible. My two Vicodin tabs worked well for about an hour and then the floodgates burst open. I spent most of the night listening to CD's thr...

ViewsAskew, Thanks for the suggestions. I think I can stop the Mirapex if I take two Vicodin at bedtime, which I'll try tonight. Trouble is, the Vicodin doesn't last that long so I'll have to take another dose four or five hours later. I'll run out of it before my neuro appointment in a couple of we...

Update: After a couple of weeks of trying, I still haven't been able to stop the Mirapex. I'm down to 0.125mg which is one-eighth my usual bedtime dose, but I can only do that by taking two Vicodin at the same time and they only cover me for two thirds of the night. What's concerning me are the rls ...

I took one Vicodin and no Mirapex at bedtime last night and the moral of that story is: don't do it. At least not cold turkey like I did. The Vicodin seemed to work for about an hour, but then I got the little twinge in my arm that told me Here it comes! (I get rls symptoms more in my arms than my l...

Ok, the first night went pretty well. I took 0.5mg of Mirapex, half my usual dose, and a Vicodin. Had some rls briefly, but then fell asleep and stayed asleep. Woke up with a headache, popped an Imitrex and felt fine after that. Tonight I'm not taking any Mirapex, just the Vicodin and I hope that wi...

Followup: I saw my PCP today and explained that I'd had to bump up my Mirapex dose to the point of getting unpleasant and dangerous side effects (becoming drowsy while driving) and augmentation had been setting in. I told him right off I wanted to stop the Mirapex for a month and substitute an opioi...

Hi Arit,

I have restless arms as well as legs and I've found that giving myself mild "judo chops" to my elbow area really helps relieve the symptoms. Of course, I can't do that all night, so if you can devise some gizmo to do that for me, I'll be your first customer.
