Hi Stacey - because Requip does not need to be reduced and Mirapex works similarly (but not identically), in theory, you should be able to just switch - one day take Requip, the next take Mirapex in its place. You only take 1/3 the amount of Mirapex - so, if you are on 2 mg of Requip, you would take...

I can't speak for anyone else, but it is I who is humbled. It is truly a wonderful place where strangers can become intimate friends and help each other selflessly as we cope with this hellish disorder. And, to think, a few words here and there from a few people - what power they can have.

I may be wrong, but maybe read through some back posts. It may take some hunting, but I am almost positive I've read of other people saying they get pain from one or more of the DAs (dopamine agonists). I can't remember if it was Mirapex, Requip, or both. Worse, it could have been on the Yahoo RLS b...

It's in the SSRI or SNRI family and will most likely worsen RLS. Any drug that improves seratonin comes with a risk for making RLS worse. Not sure, but I assume it has to do with the fact we are short on dopamine. When these drugs focus on seratonin or norepinephrine, they either cut down the dopami...

Pregnant, the best info we have to offer is in the "sticky" post. There are meds you can take, but many doctors will not give them. One other way that may help is to use some of the RLS Rebels tactics. They are worth it and can really help when meds can't. www.rlsrebel.com. Other than that, all we c...

You just get "caught" up after a few doses - not sure about higher doses. Requip is really short acting - 3 to 4 hours. So, if it takes at least 60 minutes to start to work, then another hour or two to take a "bite" out of symptoms, you only have an hour or so of relief! But, if you take your next d...

It should work by now, but your dose is still on the low side. The average (depends on the study) is between .75 mg and 1 mg. Is it not helping at all? I am starting to have doubts about taking one DA immediately after having severe augmentation with a different DA. Everyone that has posted about th...

Stacey, this sounds a lot like augmentation to me - the drug is making the RLS worse. Please, please go to the "sticky" post in this section and read about it. It might help you a lot. I would NOT go higher - I would work with my doc to stop this drug ASAP and either try Mirapex. It hasn't been too ...

I didn't post as I don't have it. . . my uncle does and he does have RLS. However, that doesn't help you as he doesn't post here.

Andy, have you had a chance to look at the Mayo Clinic Algorithm? If you fail Mirapex and Requip, you get to try benzos and antiseizure, which you are doing. If they don't work, you get to try opioids! It's great to take the algorithm with you to the docs because it says right there, in black and wh...

Gosh, Andy, I hope someone else knows! I hate to fail, but I have I don't have a clue. I go through bouts of having what may be a similar phenomena. It's like I need to stretch deeply and it happens each time I stand up from sitting at my desk and is almost entirely in my legs. But, I'm not sure it'...

Hi Annie! I'm an Annie, too, but not on this board, lol, just to my family. I hope the Requip works soon for you. If it doesn't, the European version of Mirapex should be available to you now (it was approved recently). Often people who can't take one can take the other. I understand about the perso...

Hi Mike,

I've tried but am inconsistent with remembering the creatine. So far, it hasn't helped. But, it took you months to reduce yours, so I'll keep trying.

I've never had seizures - I hope they resolve that quickly! Many of the anti-seizure meds do help RLS, though, so maybe that will be the case for you. Many people get "used" to the Requip (or any of the drugs we take that affect the CNS) within a few days to a couple of weeks. You can try splitting ...

I would absolutely interview the guy in your town! Great idea. First of all, the other guy doesn't even have to know, and secondly? It's you life! You get to decide who and how you get treated. If that doctor's nurse had that attitude, it might not bode well for you. I am probably in the minority he...
