Re: Achy morning legs

Joanie60, I was able to fly for all those years by learning my own coping mechanisms. I also had the advantage of flying business class on long international flights rather than "short" domestic flights. The seats have more leg room (for stretching) and on long flights, it is not a problem...

Re: Achy morning legs

Joanie 60, Ann's questions about your symptoms are key to determining whether your aches are WED or something else. You might want to check out the question and the answers that I received on this thread: http://bb.rls.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8661 In my case, my legs ache or become stiff in the ...

Re: Sleeping forward

It sounds like you may be experiencing what I believe kept my WED at bay for years without drugs, namely circadian disruption. You are doing it by shifting your day and I did it with jet lag caused by traveling between time zones with changes of 6 to 12 hrs at least two times per month. If your body...

Re: Mirapex and Sleep Apnea

In addition to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Central Sleep Apnea EeFall described, there is another sleep disordered breathing condition that is sometimes referred to as Upper Airway Restriction Syndrome (UARS). UARS is somewhat controversial in that some doctors say that it is simply mild OSA w...

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects

Then after switching to pramipexole as my primary treatment I had another sleep studydone and they discovered severe apnea - seemingly out of nowhere. I'm wondering if the drug has helped to create this apnea problem? - I also can not run/exercise now very well because I'm so out of breath. Has any...

Re: Need Support

The ferritin test is simply one more analysis the lab performs as part of the your blood tests. The ferritin analysis is not normally done when your doctor orders a standard blood test, such as a CBC, where they are looking for anemia. However, as far as you are concerned, the ferritin test might be...

Re: Holding pattern - eventually you have to get gas

Ann, thanks for the thought about professional placement, but those days are long past for Debbie. Not only has she been out of the workforce for 30 yrs now, but I was very blessed in that my career such that neither one us needs to worry about working another day. I continue "working" one...

Re: Holding pattern - eventually you have to get gas

Ann, that is a beautifully prepared creative writing piece. I wholeheartedly agree with Corrie that it needs wider distribution than just this bulletin board. The message of a need to re-evaluate our lives in the context of changes in our health is a message that applies well beyond the WED communit...

Re: WED Pain Sensation vs "Real" Pain from an Injury

Ann, the 4.5 mg dose of pramipexole that they used in that study was really substantial compared to WED treatment. But, since the fibromyalgia test subjects had failed all other treatment scheme, I guess they didn't have much to lose. Hopefully the treatment works differently so that they do not und...

Re: WED Pain Sensation vs "Real" Pain from an Injury

I was able to cut the remaining supply of my old, larger pills. So I am going to try the reduced dosage until I run out, which should be about two weeks. Nibbling on the new, small pills is not an option for me. One, because these things are SOOO small. I measured them and they are 3/16 inch in diam...

Re: A Statagy for Fixing Me - My Visit to a RLS/Apnea Guru

I really hope that my comments find you in less dark mood that what is conveyed in your last posting. I also hope that some of it was influenced by watching the Twilight Zone episode you mentioned. That was a unbelievably great series, but was probably not the best thing to watch when depressed or f...

Re: WED Pain Sensation vs "Real" Pain from an Injury

Steve, you might find that you don't need the full .25 both times. You might be able to take .125 instead for that first dose. Or take .125 three times instead of .25 twice. Any reduction in the dose is a good thing in terms of being able to use this for a long time. Ann, that is what I had been pl...

Re: WED Pain Sensation vs "Real" Pain from an Injury

Thanks for all the comments. Since I am still new to receiving treatments for WED, I am still at the stage of learning what is possible as well as what life feels like without WED. It has been so long that it is sort of like a blind man who can suddenly see and realizes what everyone was talking abo...

Re: WED Pain Sensation vs "Real" Pain from an Injury

During my sleep study I was diagnosed with many PLMs. Some of these were probably associated with the full body clenches, but not all of them since I know that I did not curl up that many times. During the test, the sensors were only attached to my legs, so the clenches were probably detected as a s...

Re: WED Pain Sensation vs "Real" Pain from an Injury

Actually you can find detailed info on pain in relation to RLS or to something else on 'My RLS'. Under "webinars' you will find the webinar dr Connor gave on this subject. Corrie, could you provide more information about this website? It does not appear to be one that I have seen. I searched &...
