Re: If rls is caused by brain iron deficiency why do hot baths help?
Hot bath is my go-to when symptoms are there but not bad. Like, when I've taken my meds and they haven't gone away completely, but they're not raging. I do not understand why these periods where nothing is working. I can only chalk it up to augmentation. It's probably best not to try to figure every...

Re: calcium
Hi Peanut/Kathy! Good to hear from you. I won't take a calcium supplement, there has been a bit of information that it might not be a good way to get the calcium we need. I was in a state when I thought I was getting osteoporosis, because I don't eat dairy (I think it causes my asthma and it may hav...

Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke
One of the other things about the program that I've really really benefitted from is the instruction to sleep until I wake up. I can't do that all the time, and people who don't work at home would find it impossible, but it has truly helped me. I used to fall asleep in every meditation but I kept me...

Beth, as for how long before bed, well, if your goal is to reduce nocturia then you want your bladder to be empty when you go to bed, so it's best to do the above procedure sometime in the evening after the last time you're going to drink any fluids. Right before bed is easy to remember. My goal is...

Re: Low Oxalate Dieters Please Read This
I just started looking into it. The RO filters use a lot of water - I think 4 times the amount of water is used than is produced. There are two under-the-counter ones that work: RO which uses more water and takes longer, and de-ionizer (be sure to get the kind "with ion exchange resin"). Then there'...

I haven't managed to go low-oxalate yet, let alone be ready to test re-entry of oxalates into my diet. :~|
I have a question about fluoride filters - is it true gravity filters are best for fluoride removal? What kind of filter do you use and how carefully did you research its effectiveness?

Re: RLS destroying my sleep
According this doctor, some of the antibiotics would destroy the oxalobacter formigenes bacteria. oxalobacter formigenes bacteria is responsible for breaking down the oxlates before the body absorbs. Based on that does oxalobacter formigenes probiotics should help?. Anyone tried?. Is there such a p...

Re: Is augmentation permanent??
So evidently rapid augmentation, and permanent augmentation, is not unusual. And yet, and yet, STILL the medical establishment is convinced augmentation can only occur if you've been on high doses for years. So much education of medical providers is still needed. It really needs to happen in Medica...

Re: Bright Light Therapy and Delayed Phase Sleep Disorder
oh great! let me know how they work. It'll take a few weeks I imagine. Are you using red at night? I've returned to putting my green-light goggles on in the mornings because my circadian phase has started to slide again. Maybe because it's winter (sun rises after 9 AM now, soon it will be after 10 A...

Re: Tongue numbness
Looking back at this it sounds like the complaint of a crackpot; but interestingly, when I decreased the pregabaline from 75mg to 50 the tongue numbness decreased, and then when I discontinued the pregabalin entirely the tongue numbness went away. Whatever. Small potatoes. Excellent! Not a crackpot...

If that doesn't work, you might want to try a spray.

The older anti-histamines are the ones to be avoided: sedating ones that cross the blood-brain barrier. The most common ones containt diphenhydramine or doxylamine. The ones we can use, as WED/RLS patients, are the second-generation, non-sedating, H1-blocker anti-histamines, of which Claritin is one...

Re: certainly someone must have seen a neurologist
I'm facing a long wait to see an orthopedic surgeon about my ankle (sinus tarsi syndrome). I am sure it's my age.... which infuriates me because I am very active and why should THEIR pronouncement that I am old TURN ME INTO an inactive old person? ooops - I used captials, can you tell it upsets me ?...
