Re: Augmented on Pramipexole

When I went in for my appointment with the doctor my position was that I needed to get off of DAs. However, I am already on gabapentin for migraines and that was not been addressing the urge to move part of WED. I could therefore not expect any of the other alpha-2-delta drugs to provide much help....

Re: Augmented on Pramipexole

I strongly recommend to talk to your doctor about tapering the dopamine agonists, and switching to one of the other drug classes effective against RLS. I experienced augmentation with all three DAs I took: ropinirole, pramipexole and rotigotine, and I do think that augmentation is to be expected fro...

Re: Mirapex and Sleep Apnea

I wasn't tested for sleep apnea while on Mirapex, but I was later diagnosed with a medium, non-obstructive apnea (on opioids). What I can tell: I did not put on weight while on Mirapex, but my snoring intensified significantly. My wife also reported occasional pauses in my breathing while asleep. Af...

Re: Brain chemistry, and how augmentation works

Three remarks: (A) Don't try to add vitamin and mineral supplements to your diet without checking what it can do to your body, and what dosages are feasible. The mayo clinic ( http://www.mayoclinic.org/ has an excellent website where you can enter the name of a substance (or medication) and they wil...

Brain chemistry, and how augmentation works

Hi again, a different post with a different topic, although it is related to my last post somehow. And very lengthy. (Sorry for that.) The more I read about the chemical plant called "brain" in regard to dopamine synthesis, the more I think we're on to something here. If you don't know wha...

Protein supplements/Artificial sweeteners

Hi, I apologize if this has been discussed recently - I just discovered this board, and find it a wonderful source for information. (I'm a German, and the german RLS board is completely useless. So I never checked the english discussion boards.) I experienced a worsening of my symptoms about a month...

Re: Will excercise and weight reduction affect my RLS sympto

Thanks for the information. Yes, I agree that if there is a cause and effect relation, it is much more likely that RLS increases the risk of being overweight and not the other way around - apart from the general effects of sleep deprivation on eating habits, dopamine deficiencies will cause cravings...

Will excercise and weight reduction affect my RLS symptoms?

Hi, I've found a couple of threads about weight, and I know that Obesity and RLS are correlated. My question is very simple, and wasn't answered: Everybody talks about the correlation between RLS and Obesity. What happens to fat people like me who already have the disease if they lose weight? More p...
