Re: RLS Foundation hosting a Patient Symposium
You are right! Thanks for the reminder. I'm having routine blood work done tomorrow and I will ask specifically for a ferritin level check. I have been on an iron supplement since April.

Re: RLS Foundation hosting a Patient Symposium
I just registered for this symposium. What a great opportunity to meet the specialists. I coordinated this with my appointment with Dr. Poceta. My daughter is coming with me in place of my husband. She has shown the beginnings of RLS and I am sure she will benefit also. I hope there will be members ...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)
I'm so sorry that this awful syndrome has affected your life in such a traumatic way. It is a disastrous syndrome. We can't fully explain how it feels or how it impacts our lives. I have one suggestion and you may have already tried it but here goes. Talk to a licensed psychologist or counselor. We ...

Re: Is your DA causing augmentation?
Bronwen, I’m in the midst of a bad episode of rls in my shoulder & legs & your post brought a smile to my face. I love what you said about being told of the numerous home remedies that would cause our symptoms to disappear. I have friends insisting that essential oils or magnetic blankets ar...

Re: Prescription Refills
I think you may have something there, I've been asking myself that very thing. Sometimes when I wake up it is just that-waking up and then in a few minutes the rls kicks in. I'll mention this to my pain management doctor's PA She is really helping me. She just ok'd my getting my OxyContin a day earl...

While on your recumbent bike do you read or watch tv? I've been thinking of getting an exercise bike for the night time episodes of rls.

Re: Over-the-counter sleep aids
I find that sleep aid medication of any kind makes my rls much worse. Sorry. It's so hard when we can't get enough sleep. I try all the usual methods: baths, music, and such but it usually is up to the whims of the rls.

Re: Prescription Refills
I have found there is not much improvement since I am taking the ER OxyContin at night and the oxycodone during the day. I have a good night without any rls and then the next night I'm waking up 2-3 times a night. There is improvement during the day. I am paying attention to what I eat and my activi...

Re: Prescription Refills
Good news: my PA is working with me to tweak the opioids to where I get some relief. She has listened and I am so grateful. Dr. Poceta at Scripps suggested an ER OxyContin at bedtime and a dose of oxycodone mid day. So far all I have been prescribed is the bedtime dose of 15mg OxyContin and that bar...

Re: Prescription Refills
Restless shoulder is awful! The only thing that can help is heat. It is the creepiest feeling. I sent off a carefully worded message to my PA tonight. Hopefully she will read it in the morning.

Re: Prescription Refills
I've almost come up with a message that might work. Meanwhile in reading the notes that Dr. Poceta sent home with me from Scripps, I found that I can message him through a patient portal. I don't know how I overlooked this, maybe sleep deprivation? So if I don't get any further help from my PA I wil...

Re: Prescription Refills
My PA prescribed OxyContin CR 15mg, I tablet at bedtime. The first night I took it I didn't fall asleep until after 1:00am and that was after dealing with restless legs off and on during the evening. I woke several times with rls finally rising at 5:30 to get ready to go to my regular Tues/Wed Bible...

Re: What Calms You in the Night?
All good ideas, thanks! I like the idea of tea with milk. I tolerate caffeine in small amounts so black tea would do. I had thought of coconut milk and will give that a try.
