Hi Brittany-- My son is 13, and we realized he had RLS more than a year ago. A lot of the adults here also had it when they were kids. I know I had it when I was in my late teens, but I'm not sure about at your age. I think people don't talk about it because a lot of them don't KNOW about RLS. And t...

Trev-- I think we're on the same page on this... and I believe it's natural that for a time now, while you're wrestling with recent "diagnosis", that it WOULD be in the forefront of your mind. There may be a combination of just "noticing" more actively and the "self-fulfilling prophecy" I theorized ...

Hmmm... I wonder if we don't all need to lighten up a bit. We are INDEED all suffering from fatigue, frustration, discomfort... and many of us on meds, with effects from those as well. And for that VERY reason, I think we need to try not to take things quite so personally. My $.02. Sara

Hi, Trev-- I'm afraid with all the new people on the forum (and the fact that I've been in and out on vacation) I don't recall the severity of your symptoms. I have not gone to a doctor for my RLS, so I can't say how one would describe my case, but based on frequency, comparisons to the stories of o...

Hello, again, Steve-- Fatigue is a BIG factor that exacerbates my RLS, as I mentioned. Others here have theirs exacerbated by stress. I also have worse RLS when I overexert, climb a lot of stairs, do a lot of heavy lifting during the day. All this and more is involved when we move, so I guess it's n...

Nadia... I also do not seem to PLMD. My husband does, but not me. I guess I buck a FEW RLS trends, too?

Hi, Steve-- Sorry you're having more trouble with your RLS lately. I think Trev's right.... it's hard to track things down since we're all affected by slightly different things. I did want to mention/ask one thing, though, based on my RLS experiences. I had had RLS for years (decades almost) when I ...

Hello, again, Jan-- Just wanted to say, I thought of you last night. Company at our house in the afternoon, and a few other things, got our normal "scehdule" delayed, and everything was late. Started falling asleep on the couch after dinner, but didn't get up and go to bed because my husband was hom...

Jan-- Can't speak to treatment, since I'm currently still managing without meds. RLS runs in my family, and I've had it for sure since my teens (probably some childhood foot/leg problems were also RLS, but who knew? and I don't remember enough details to piece it together now.) Mine's gotten worse a...

You know that, Ann, and I know it. But unfortunately, we also know that if Kitty or anyone else had a doc who DIDN'T, they sure wouldn't be the FIRST... based on what folks have said here about trying to "convince" their doctors of RLS in other parts of the body.

Kitty-- I would think that RLS in the feet would be an easier "sell" to your doc than, say, RLS in the arms or torso like some folks have. I'm like you, as I mentioned to the original poster in this thread. My RLS is primarily troublesome in my feet and sometimes ankles. Sure, I get it sort of "radi...

Jamie! HI! so glad that you're doing well with your anti-hypoglycemia diet. I know that low simple carbs, careful amounts of complex carbs, and LOTS of protein has been a good dietary change for my chronic anxiety disorder, my lifelong tendency to wake up in the middle of the night and not get back ...

Hello, again, Colleen-- Don't worry, no one grades you on your spelling around here. I know some members notice increased RLS symptoms when they are stressed. Personally, I don't notice that. For example, I have generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) as well as RLS, and I never notice that during increa...
