Re: BID theory and ferritin levels

... It wouldn't surprise me at all if there was a fairly large subgroup of patients with high ferritin but generally low iron... I think we need to get away from the idea of "generally low iron" and realize that, except in very limited circumstances, that for proper functioning different organs nee...

Re: sleep deprivation

i have trialed magnesium which helped a little but not significantly with sleep i did a cheeky thing - i copy and pasted stjohnh reply and sent it to my doc who has been suggested that me not sleeping is all psychological; he consulted his sleep specialist colleague who had no idea what stjohnh was ...

Re: Open question #1: Exercise and WED

my idea of exercise and RLS is very simplistic. overdoing (depending on the state of your body) it causes depletion of iron --> triggers symptoms

certainly not as sophisticated as the above discussion which I'm enjoying (and trying to follow)

scary night time experience

Hi all I'm wondering if anyone of you has had such an experience at night with your RLS. I'm quite spooked because I have no idea what is going on or if this is normal? Basically, my legs were trashing around uncontrollably in bed but I was very sedated and groggy. According to my husband, he had to...

Re: sleep deprivation

I suspect that the answer to that is yes, but I don't know for sure. However, there are other things that can disturb sleep, such as sleep apnea. When I first saw a sleep doctor and went through a sleep study, the results showed that I had two separate conditions. I have a form of sleep apenea spec...

Re: The RLS/WED market

A somewhat chilling reminder that people hate Big Pharma for a reason... http://www.digitaljournal.com/pr/4215443. To these people, we're just a market. "Despite its increasing prevalence, the precise cause of RLS is not yet known. Nevertheless, with extensive investigations being conducted in the ...

Re: sleep deprivation

thanks so much for the replies. the information is really helpful for me to understand and normalise things a bit! from my doc's reaction, i was starting to wonder if this was (i.e. am I) even normal or possible.....given how much medication I'm taking. i'm so exhausted that it's really not funny at...

Re: Very Tired

My normal has changed again. I'm up now most nights. Before this I was able to go to sleep around 11 pm, but only sleeping 2 hrs, up, then 2 more hrs, up then 2 more hrs. The up time was about 30 min to an hr. Now my sleep Is still only for 2 hours. Then I'm up for a bit then another 2 hours. So my...

For RLS - is it possible for the legs to be better i.e. no twitching, pain etc but the sleep problems persist?

Re: work and sleep

I tried it briefly - I thought I was going to die. OK, a bit of hyperbole, but still. It. Was. So. Hard. And, no way I should have been driving. It wasn't as bad when I was a professor - I only had to be on campus 8 hours (over two days) a week, so could work at home whenever. That gig ended, so I ...

Re: Sleeping Arrangements

My husband also insists I do not disturb him but it is sometimes easier to be on my own when the legs are bad. I do find his constant assurances reassuring and am more likely to stay in the bed with him because of them so I would second the others who said to keep telling him you like to have him t...
