Re: Foam Rollers

There are different hardnesses of foam rollers. I use the black ones that are the hardest. I use massage sticks sometimes as well -- but I have to push hard with them and I can more easily get a higher amount of pressure on the area for an extended period of time with the foam roller. Using a lacros...

Re: Medical Marijuana

I tried Medical Marajuana back in 2013. I did not get very much direction from my doctor, but I was able to find out that types of marajuana that had more indica worked better on problems like RLS. I made peanut butter sandwiches with the stuff and it seemed to help me sleep better but my symptoms d...

Re: Wahls diet for WED? Trying it.

I found that after several months on the modified Ketogenic diet that I had side effects of constipation. My wife found the book" Perfect Health Diet: Regain Health and Lose Weight by Eating the Way You Were Meant to Eat" By Ph.D. Paul Jaminet Ph.D. (Author), Shou-Ching Jaminet Ph.D. They ...

Re: Low Carb High Good Fat Diet

Stretching seems to help my highly active symptoms but it seems that for me it may not be as effective as foam rolling. But what I have realized is that sometimes I am not stretching the most effective muscle group. Sometimes I need to stretch my quads -- sometimes my calves sometimes my hamstrings;...

Re: Magnesium........does it help??

I find that magnesium can sometimes be helpful. Almost all of the alternatives to milk; e. g. almond milk, coconut milk, etc are fortified with calcium. On the surface this seems like a good thing. But it can put your calcium magnesium balance out of wack. So I take magnesium a few times per week to...

Re: Low Carb High Good Fat Diet

I hope I didn't include too much information in my last post. I must also say that along with these measures I foam roll every evening and when I wake up I also foam roll to get back to sleep. Some of the people who say foam rolling is not helpful make me wonder if they are doing it correctly. When ...

Re: Low Carb High Good Fat Diet

I wanted to give an update. I experienced improvement for about 4-5 months. It did not totally solve my problems but it was enough aid to allow me to take lower amounts of medication and to go without medication for 2-3 nights per week. My guess is the combination of the diet with the amount of medi...

Re: Low Carb High Good Fat Diet

Good luck to both of you Steve and KDecker. I found partial relief as I went on this diet that gradually decreased over time. After listening to the Augmentation webinar, which I highly recommend, I realized that I needed to stop my Mirapex -- which I had started again after I had experienced signif...

Re: Accupuncture worked for me

I tried both regular acupuncture and cranial acupuncture -- where the needles are inserted in your head. In both cases they seemed to help for a few months -- but then they stopped helping.

Re: Low Carb High Good Fat Diet

We actually read the Wahl's book first. It has several good ideas and no doubt works for many people. Many of the concepts in it are similar to the concepts in the books I suggested. One of the best things she says is how her diet works for multiple neurological conditions. This is similar to what t...

Re: CPAP

Several adjustments were made. I also tried a more sophisticated type of CPAP that adjusts itself to the person. Nothing helped. I can't explain it. It's just something about me.

Low Carb High Good Fat Diet

My wife read this book recently that provides a diet for neurological conditions based on lots of research. It is called: The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living: An Expert Guide to Making the Life-Saving Benefits of Carbohydrate Restriction Sustainable and Enjoyable By Stephen Phinney (Autho...

Re: Foam Rollers

I also want to say that I use foam rolling in combination with a massage stick. I find that the massage stick can find areas that I don't seem to get with the foam roller. The knots in the muscles from RLS are typically more difficult to get out. I often have to massage the same area over 100 times ...

Re: Foam Rollers

Foam rolling has been very helpful for me. I use a simple hard black foam roller. I find that the harder ones work better for me. I have severe RLS and foam rolling can be painful. I sometimes have to do it more than one time a night and on different parts of my leg. I have to search around to see w...

Re: Exercise (weightlifting/bodybuilding)

My RLS is in the severe stage. I find that if I work out too intensely in the evenings that I have a difficult night. Stretching and foam rolling of my legs and back help. Yoga is helpful because of all the stretching that I do.
