Re: A silent sufferer!

Good luck! Opioids are usually not scary at all for RLS people. I have taken two 60mg tablets of codeine for years with no need to increase. I also take gabapentin and iron. My sleep is broken but when I wake up the RLS pain is not very strong as before. I read and/or watch something on my iPad for ...

Re: Attempting to get off Ropinirole - again

I've been taking ropinerole for probably 10 years but augmented quickly after getting up to about .75mg. Thanks to this discussion board I was able to scale back. I think I augmented fast because I had taken sinemet nightly when my GP didn't understand it was for occasional, not daily, use. I spent ...

Re: Attempting to get off Ropinirole - again

That sort of GP should go into research. I'm so lucky to have a great one who also has RLS. With no thyroid or parathyroids, I too take many prescription medicines every day plus liquid B12, magnesium and vitamin C. I still take .25 ropinerole and a half tablet about once or twice a month. I will ne...

Re: Fentanyl patches for RLS

I can't imagine a doctor prescribing fentanyl for RLS. My husband had a patch during his last very painful days with cancer. The dangers of mishandling fentanyl are serious, even touching the patch except around the edges.

Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

Years ago, when my husband was on a gluten free diet, a chef friend said to try organic flour as from preparing the soil to making the bread almost 100 chemicals can be used with growing and preparing wheat products. Cliff was fine with homemade bread made from organic flour.

Re: Sleep Pod

When backpacking years ago I tried a silk sleeping bag liner to prolong the life of my sleeping bag. After a very short time, maybe under an hour, I had wiggled out of it. My husband, who is a sound sleeper without RLS hated it too. The sleeping pods would be torture for me. I guess the price is not...

It's so important to notify the anesthesiologists, they really don't want any surprises during surgery.

Re: Follow up and Requip questions

Sinemet is excelent for rare occasional use such as a concert or plane or car trip but I agree with Rustsmith that it should not be used for continuous use. I found out the hard way decades ago when my GP didn't know about augmentation.

Re: Tramadol Experience

I took 100mg slow release Tramadol at bed time for years. About a year ago I had acute kidney failure due to a botched prescription. The kidney failure came on slowly and I was not aware of it, then quickly as too much calcium built up in my bloodstream. By the time I knew what was happening I was l...

Re: How many hours do you sleep?

For years I got only around four hours of sleep, broken sleep to boot. That is not enough. I had big red circles under my eyes during that time. After starting to take iron tablets I was able to get about six hours, sometimes seven each night. Of course, to get that much meant devoting 10 or more ho...

Re: RLS and the COVID Vaccine

At the roll out rate in New Zealand it will take years before we are all vaccinated. Yes, we're safe now but the economy will still be in the dumps when the rest of the world is recovering.

Re: How many hours do you sleep?

Sometimes it's my RLS that wakes me up, other times it's just random. Upon my first wake up it's as if my brain says "that was a nice nap". I try not to nap during the day or if I do to keep it short. The Sleep Book: How to Sleep Well Every Night · By: Dr. Guy Meadows I found this book very interest...

Re: How many hours do you sleep?

I get between five and seven, usually in three or four segments over nine or ten hours from going to bed to getting up.
When I'm lucky I'm only awake a third of the night. On a bad night it can be half.

Re: Stressless Chairs

I keep a journal on my phone every night (10.30 went to bed; 12.30 woke up, 1.45 went back to sleep etc) and then put a month at a time on my computer. At my regular doctor's appointment a few times a year I give herthe current month's printout which she scans and puts into my records. She says it i...
