Re: Dealing with tuff love and people with RLS
I didn't ask him, wish I had. Certainly didn't tell her that. She's watched me for so long, she must be afraid of it and that fear may intensity what's going on. Once, when she was on a plane with me and I was going nuts, she said "I'm not ever flying with you again. I thought you were going to...

Re: Dealing with tuff love and people with RLS
I do the same thing. "I have a neurological thing....it's called Restless Legs Syndrome." And you're right, people usually accept that and go on. (I know we're changing the name, but NUTS....I feel like people finally are learning about RLS and think we'll just confuse them. Sorry, know we...

Re: Furious....and scared
It is infuriating. I had a bit of my magic chocolate bar last night and, mixed with a few other things, gave "depth" to my sleep, sure you know what I mean! I had asked my doc for Temazepam and Tylenol 3, so last night I used the Temazepam and a small amount of Mirapex. I'm assuming I can'...

Re: Furious....and scared
Ann: I know I said marijuana didn't work for me -- but, oddly, it did last night. I got RLS about 3 p.m., went swimming, which postpones it. About 6, finally took 1/2 Mirapex, didn't touch it. About 8, took Tylenol 3 and a whole Mirapex. Nothing would make RLS stop. I ate a little "edible,"...

Re: After 9 nights of walking, maybe it's over!!!
A conundrum. If the drug you're taking is working, why would you stop. But, as so often happens to all of us, things start not working well....that's when I would think about a "holiday" (I just laugh when I say that). I do much better when I know what's going to happen -- I think if a doc...

Re: After 9 nights of walking, maybe it's over!!!
Reporting in: I know how incredibly lucky I am to have a good neurologist who's willing to let me be a partner. If I suggest something, he orders it and I pick it up. Yesterday, I said the Mirapex isn't working....how about codeine/Tylenol or Temazepam, don't think I've tried either. I got both. (mo...

Re: Furious....and scared
Ann...so, so, sorry about your predicament. You're in a dark corner. My best friend always says "let's look at your options." Guess that's what being on this board is all about. I'm in a place where I will try anything. Drain cleaner? Well sure, what strength? Still messing with Mirapex, b...

Re: Deep Brain Stimulation???
Through the 20 years I have this, I tried everything. I was on something, it wasn't working, the doc gave me Methadone. Of course that worked for a while, then I started falling asleep in conversations, at the wheel, but it wasn't working for sleep at night. Cutting back didn't help. Fast forward ye...

Re: Deep Brain Stimulation???
yeah ...I didn't sleep at all (we could have been emailing....). Maybe it's because that Saboxone isn't all gone? I took oxycodone...and actually had the same reaction as when I tried it before, while I was withdrawing. It put my RLS into overdrive. Jeeeezzzzz. I'm sure ready to move on with my life...

Re: Deep Brain Stimulation???
No. I've only been taking Mirapex and I GET RLS when I take it. This morning, my doc said why don't I try rotating....he gave me Valium, I already have oxycodone from when he prescribed that before (but it didn't work because I was still withdrawing from that opiate). So he suggested trying the thre...

Rotate drugs
I'll try rotating drugs. I know many of you have done that.
I'm augmenting on .25 mg of Mirapex.
Do I just drop it and add valium (5 mg) or 5 mg.oxycodone? Or should I take .025 of Mirapex with that?

Re: Traveling over the holidays
ha!! Maybe so. Plausible as anything else. I live in a condo, on the first floor, people coming and going. When my back starts hurting, I'll go to the main office and find someone to talk to. I also work on the weekends at a museum as an "ambassador," greeting people and showing them aroun...

Deep Brain Stimulation???
I adore my neurologist -- I asked for someone young, just out of college, hoping he would be open minded and willing to experiment. So far, it's worked. We talked for a long time this morning. He knows that I've been through all the drugs we know about and that I've had a hard time withdrawing from ...

Valium?
I thought Valium was in the same drug category as clonazepam -- something most of us have taken or take. What's the difference? The last time I had to fly (always a nightmare unless I go early in the morning), I stood in the back. The best is when I can strike up a conversation with someone in the r...
