I was just reading through my notes from the Orlando RLS conference. I came across a statement that said RLS often moves into other body parts during augmentation. Now, I realize I see augmentation everywhere . But, I know that was the case with me. Mine left my arms when I got off of the offending ...

Yes, Corrie. Good memory. The docs at the conference said that they used to think we didn't have enough dopamine. They now believe (not sure if that is "know") that we have our dopamine at the wrong times. This explains why many of us have no trouble going to sleep somewhere between 2-5 AM and sleep...

Niki, I'm with you on the positive attitude. Mine is often in short supply when my sleep is significantly screwed up. In fact, the older I get, the less sleep interruption I need before I get very anxious and upset about it. It's like I've just dealt with it too much and I am intolerant of ANY probl...

Hi Carol, I can comment on the Requip dosage. The "average" amount of Requip taken is 1.0 to 2.0 mg. It is appriximately 3 times Mirapex, so you can use this as a guideline - if you took .5 of Mirapex, it will probably tak 1.5 of Requip. This is what I found when researching different studies. .25 o...

It is sooooo hard sometimes to find a doctor who will work with you. Several of us can commisserate. I've learned that I have to be VERY firm with docs, especially when something isn't working. Are you worse with or without the Ambien CR? If worse, then you might want to consider stopping it and mak...

I think it is a good idea to consolidate it some how. I'll talk to the others a see what they think. In a sticky in this section maybe we could but the following together: Drugs not to take Algorithm Basic info on the drugs (I could take it out of the new to RLS sticky) Side effects of the drugs Any...

I agree with Kimberly that we are all different. The best things to do, in my opinion, are 1. learn as much as you can--this is so you know if your/his doc is doing the best/right things. It also allows you to make suggestions and take info to your doc. Because this is so variable person to person, ...

Hi Monica, Thanks for sharing your story. Hope you'll hang around and post some; as you've found, it's everyone's sharing that makes this such an awesome place. You don't know me and I'm not a doc, but I would beseech you to request to your doc that you start at a lower dose and only increase it if ...

I've not heard of it! So, I did a quick search on Yahoo. m This site (the only one I found) says the rapid leg thing is another term for nocturnal myoclonus. That is an outdated term for PLMD - periodic limb movement disorder. So, my guess is that the doctor is saying he has PLMD - but I would ask t...

There are many other meds to try. I am with you - 6 mg is an awful lot to take without good effects. I've heard one of the research doctors say that after you get to a certain point, increasing these drugs doesn't provide much additional help. You could see if Mirapex worked better. Maybe your docto...

Lyn, it's possible that some people may have done it and just not responded here. With all of the members we have, many of them are not regulars. It can be several weeks between visits. And, I think most of our readers are not regular posters, but lurkers. It was a great idea and one that all of the...

Celiac disease causes the villi in the intestines to stop absorbing nutrients and also causes neurological problems. Over time the toll on the body is tremendous. Many people can even have it without most or even any of the symptoms. For him, since his villi stopped absorbing, he couldn't get any ca...

Wish I had some direct knowledge, but don't. Spinal/back problems, surgery or even injections can all cause the start or worsening of RLS, so I would imagine any procedure that involves the spinal area would be of concern. On the other hand, how difficult it must be to have all that pain from the di...

Hi Karl, Like Jan said, it sounds like you have really been through the wringer. Ugh. I've been through a few meds myself and am now on methadone. For me, it's still working. I don't have much pain, though, mostly just the horrid feeling that makes my skin crawl just thinking about . I had a couple ...
