Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)
Interesting conversation. This is the main reason I want to take a prolonged drug holiday, to find the real "me". I've long suspected that Mirapex is causing memory and attention issues (my wife and kids tell me all the time how I don't pay attention in conversations; I don't even realize ...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
I'm going to try to post an update every 5 days of my current DA withdrawal attempt. Forgive me if it is somewhat incoherent; I feel like I'm working with half a brain right now. I made it through night 5 of no Mirapex. Three of the five nights (including last night), I have gotten basically no slee...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
I have to say that the dopamine withdrawal was the worst thing I have ever experienced! I couldn't agree more with this statement. I'm currently withdrawing from Mirapex (my 5th attempt in the past 14 months), and it is the hardest thing I've had to do in my life. My current attempt, I'm taking bab...

Re: pramipexole
I think there's a fairly good chance there is a correlation between your arthritis and the worsening of your RLS symptoms. I've always noticed my RLS symptoms tend to flare up or worsen whenever I have some sort of an injury, especially a leg or foot injury. I believe it is fairly common for RLS sym...

Re: Methadone
I heard one of the Foundation webinars that was presented by Dr Early. Yes, that is where I heard it as well. It is Dr. Earley's and Dr. Allen's theory. That is why they advocate the 10-day/no coverage drug holiday. My own uneducated/oversimplified theory is that opioids flood the brain with dopami...

Re: New and going nuts
You might want to try acupuncture. Any port in a storm, right? It worked well for me until I got too far into my withdrawal attempt. I'm still getting the treatments, but they are not as effective as they were initially; the DA withdrawal symptoms are just too severe. I'm confident it will work for ...

Re: New and going nuts
If you are now considering medication for your RLS because the Abilify was indeed masking your RLS symptoms, I would encourage you to look at the alpha-2-delta ligands (gabapentin, Lyrica, Horizant) first. If for some reason these don't do the trick, then try the dopamine agonists (Mirapex, Requip)....

Re: Methadone
Ronofold - are you planning on staying on methadone indefinitely, or are you just using it to get off Ropinirole? If the latter, please also share your experience in tapering off methadone, once the Ropinirole is out of your system. Some RLS experts believe opioids simply delay the inevitable and yo...

Re: Pramipexole Problems
Great advice so far. I personally have had difficulty coming off Mirapex at my relatively low dose of .375 mg. It's important to be patient and keep your expectations in check coming off your high dose of 3 mg. Others have done it before, so you can too, but don't expect it to be easy. You may have ...

Re: Two quick ?'s changing meds....
I posted a reply earlier, but it must have gotten lost in the database restoration. Anyway, the gist of my post was that I would advise you to find a doctor that stays current with the treatment of RLS, as yours obviously does not. Switching from one short-acting DA to another is an outdated practic...

Thank you for sharing your experience, and please let us know how the tapering off gabapentin goes. I'm curious if your symptoms will worsen.

Re: Has anyone tried something called Seratame?
golfgla258, glad to hear you are still having success with Seratame. Were you previously (or are you now) taking prescription medications for your RLS? I'm thinking it is harder to get relief from Seratame while on drugs, but just guessing. What is the severity of your RLS? Finally, when do you take...

Re: Has anyone tried something called Seratame?
Just wanted to provide an update on my experience with Seratame. I just finished my second bottle. Per my post above, I definitely noticed improvement most of the first month, and the first two nights after starting the 2nd bottle, and speculated it might have something to do with the freshness of t...

Re: Needing advice on getting off hydrocodone
sdcowgirl - I am in a similar situation, except for the hydrocodone part. There is a member (WBruce) who I believe was on Mirapex and Hydrocodone and went to Dr. Earley to get off these drugs. He went thru the drug holiday and I believe ended up on Methadone. Here is the thread....take a look at his...
