Intravenous Iron Given prior to Pregnancy for Restless Legs
I found this abstract recently. Intravenous Iron Given prior to Pregnancy for Restless Legs Syndrome is Associated with Remission of Symptoms. Daniel L Picchietti; Victor C Wang; Matthew A Picchietti J Clin Sleep Med 8, 585 (2012) University of Illinois School of Medicine & Carle Foundation Hosp...

Re: Ferritin
I remember hearing that you shouldn't get your ferritin tested during certain illnesses, because inflammation increases the amount of ferritin circulating in the blood.

Re: compressed nerves
There are people whose personal experience has convinced them that spinal-nerve compression causes or exacerbates WED, but I haven't yet heard of research confirming that. The WED/RLS summaries from the medical literature that mention it, at least that I've seen, say there is no known connection. Pr...

Re: Hyperalertness - Research Study
The problem with making men big to simulate pregnancy, and whatever device might be invented to simulate WED, is that they fall short of the reality yet might leave subjects convinced that they now know what it is like. Using the pregnancy thing as an example, having something big attached outside y...

Re: Restless legs
rthom has it right. Some of what was called "growing pains" might have actually been WED/RLS. It's hard for a child to describe what she's feeling, and if a parent wasn't familiar with the disease, it would be almost impossible for her to recognize it from the child's descriptions.

Re: Hyperalertness - Research Study
not really for pros, main audience is the public. The idea that it could be useful for pros as well would be added bonus if it was true.
I should keep this fantasy in a different thread, perhaps.

we'd have to have the same, like, "the leg, arm, anywhere creepy painful annoying anxiety-provoking sensation that keeps you from rest, sleep, work, fun, or living your life disease." . LAACPAASTKYFRSWFOLYLD, for short. Or add an E for electrical and U for unbearable & get LAACEPAUAST...

Re: Hyperalertness - Research Study
I was replying to ann , but I will probably interview almost anyone who will express interest in it. I'm not going to do the interviewing myself. I'll get my friend to do that' if he's willing to, because that's his job, he's a journalist & he's good at it. But clearly I don't know anything abt ...

Re: Out of Options... What do I do now??!!!
I don't know if you've already thought of this, but taking in to you r appointment a printed copy of the RLSF Medical Bulletin (there's a link in polar bear's signature) might be a good idea. You can highlight the parts you think are relevant to you, and ask the neuro what he thinks of it. I am not ...

Re: Hyperalertness - Research Study
Are you willing to be interviewed for the video? (if it happens, and if the person I want agrees to do it). Probably it would be a remote video interview. It would be better to have your face not just your voice, even if it's low-quality video. I've been thinking about ways to capture people talking...

Re: Hyperalertness - Research Study
I agree with you. I just wish there was a way. I would just like for them to see how we really are. DEB That's exactly why I want to do the video. How many times have I read similar sentiments on here? it seems like every day that I read the forums. someone is saying the same thing. I just want peo...

Re: From RLS to WED - why the name change
I applaud the people who initiated the name change; no small undertaking. I agree whole-heartedly that the name needed changing in order to underscore the seriousness of the disease (as Robert Yoakum quoted someone saying in his book - excuse the paraphrase, I don't have the book handy - : "wou...

Re: Furious....and scared
It's our litigious society. If doctors weren't paralyzed by the fear of being sued, they might actually be able to take care of us.
