Re: New to RLS forum

Thank you, Bridgercan :) Yes, memories. I remember as a child giving my dad foot massages because I was convinced that he was suffering a lot. Maybe, unconsciously I was preparing myself for the massages I would give myself much later in life :) Best regards, Leo Me too! I was older, late twenties,...

Re: New to RLS forum

Hey Leo-Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you’re on the path for getting relief and understanding this disease. As you’ve probably learned there’s no rhyme or reason as to what helps one person doesn’t for another—another maddening aspect of the disease. But learning all you can and getting in tu...

Re: How do you hold down a job?

Hey Taco Bill- it’s been a month since you posted; wondering how you are doing? You mentioned having an appointment with Dr B-how did it go?!? Thank you for sharing. A lot of what you wrote resonated with me: the exhaustion, loneliness, feelings of worthlessness and shame, suicide ideation—these are...

Re: Help!

Hey Taco Bill-a big welcome and thank you for sharing your story! I don’t have much in the way of insight or thoughts, but I’m just replying to acknowledge you and what you shared. You’ve had a very tough time, and most sadly, a lot of negativity from health care providers. I hope you can find a sen...

Re: How long before I should worry about augmentation?...

So question for the community: has anyone augmented on the Neupro patch, and if so, how did you go off of it? After taking it for ten years, I augmented on pramixepole a year ago. My doctor at the time told me to stop taking it and prescribed 20mg of OxyContin which really wasn’t effective. I writhe...

Re: Suicidal thoughts

Sorry for a very late reply, but I was just revisiting some old threads... I can recommend Golden root (Rhodiola rosea) as a natural antidepressant (see this thread here: http://bb.rls.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=9805). It is a stimulant so you'll want to take it in the morning, and I had trouble goin...

Re: How To Get Husband to Understand

If I wait an longer on either one, I can’t get my symptoms under control for hours no matter what I do. I’ve had RLS for 15+ years and have a great doctor. I’ve been on Requip and the Neupro patch (which I loved but it’s too expensive). My problem is that since I get really sleepy on Pramipexole an...

Re: New member - 8 year old son diagnosed at 6 with RLS/PLMD

I’ve not read up on the effects of glutamate, per se, but I figured out a long time ago junk food is an RLS trigger for me big time. Really anything processed will get my legs going. I used to love Doritos actually, even a whiff of them from someone else munching on them still makes me salivate, but...

Re: Suicidal thoughts

You’re right, Viewsaskew, being heard is priceless . I think it’s often the best gift we can give each other—offering our full attention and really hearing what the other person is saying. And that takes effort to do, and sometimes alot of effort, at least for me, to set aside my stuff and just hear...

Re: Suicidal thoughts

Bridgercan, I too am susceptible to both organic and medication driven depression. I am fortunate that my wife is very supportive and understanding of my RLS. She also has a chronic neurological condition, so she has an idea of what I am going through and my RLS has given me greater appreciation of...

Re: Suicidal thoughts

I’m kinda just putting this out there: for me, I have two types of depression: one is definitely related to opioids and the other is what I call organic—the depression that comes from within, decidedly not from opioids. Both types, if severe enough, lead my thoughts to suicide ideation. I’m in a mix...

Re: Augmentation on Neupro vs augmentation on pramixepole

Bridgercan, the symptoms that you describe are exactly those of augmentation. You asked if anyone had augmented on Neupro, I did after using it for 15 months and gradually going from 2mg to 4mg a day. My history is that it took me 12 months to augment on pramipexole and then another 15 on Neupro. I...

Re: Augmentation on Neupro vs augmentation on pramixepole

Bridgercan, Sounds like you have it spot on... Yes you are almost certainly augmenting. I augmented on pramipexole and switched for a month or two to Neupro and had to stop because of rashes. But augmentation on Neupro is very common, especially after augmenting on pramipexole. Coping... LOL, there...
