Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

There are things on this diet that activates my RLS i.e. potatoes, bread etc. Hence I'm not going to try it.

Yes, a lot of the things he stated, really didn't add up like apple cider vinegar isn't good for you or doesn't do anything.
At the very least I can enjoy a nice beet or carrot juice with my new blender if the celery juice doesn't give me a little more energy after a sleepless night.

Re: root cause of my RLS

Betty,

Definitely going with the flow. I guess I can't give up hope entirely that I won't be able to at least manage the RLS a little better.

Ann,

I am very grateful for my meditation practice now.

healthy eating

I was in the bookstore the other day, reading a cook book when I glanced at a book called "medical medium". Of course, I had to find out what this was about. Apparently, he is a medical psychic and has helped a lot of people. I thumbed through the book and started getting hopeful: maybe this severe ...

root cause of my RLS

I wish I knew the answer to that. I really think the high stress in my life weakened something that kicked the RLS into severe, 9 years ago. But what is that something called? My RLS savvy doctor (William Ondo) said there is no way of knowing. The one thing I did accomplish in the past 9 years is dr...

Re: I'm finally getting an infusion

I know my primary care doctor was very concerned when my ferratin was at a whopping 670 not too long after my transfusion. I cut out the iron tablets right away and now just do the desiccated liver tabs which are like food. I called my neurologist (Ondo) who told me to get off the iron, but also sta...

Propanolol

I wanted to know if anyone had tried this blood pressure medication and if so, how it interacted with the RLS. I'm trying to get ahold of my neuro, but for some reason the phone system isn't working.

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants

I also talked to my doctor (psychiatrist) about the ER and psychiatric medications, ADs in particular. She stated that most doctors don't take RLS seriously and recommended not to go to the ER for a psych breakdown unless I thought I would end up dead. I was surprised given the fact that she is work...

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants

For years I exercised up a storm, but due to problematic feet my exercise is now limited. I have switched coping skills from exercise to meditation. I am able to exercise some, but running and long walks are out of the question.

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants

Steve, I don't think there is anyway I can even try Wellbutrin or possibly any AD after reading about your horror story. Thankfully, the doctor stated they take RLS very serious since there is an increased rate of suicide among severe RLS patients. She wanted me to try the mood stabilizer topiramate...

Re: Emergency Room Nightmare

Steve, I really hope you sue them over this on principle if anything else. I had a situation where I went to the doctor to get some medication and was honest about the suicidal thought. I also had a counseling appointment right after that and told them and they ended up lying to me, calling the poli...

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants

One more quick thing on ADs. I read where problems can happen getting off the AD, but this is usually when someone has been on it longer than 4-6 weeks My solution for this is to only take the AD for 4-5 weeks, get off for a few months, and then take it for another 4-5 weeks or whenever I need a bre...
