Re: getting off miraprex

I did it with 10 mg of oxy at bed time. I was prescribed 5 mg twice a day, but since I couldn't take it at work, I took both doses at bed time. I wish you all the best, even with 10 mg of oxy I was manic, I walked my dog alot, I paced, I ate like a fiend, couldn't focus and just felt miserable. It w...

Re: getting off miraprex

mapleleaf, I can relate to being on that dose of Mirapex and the havoc it can wreak on your body and mind. My story is on this site, but since my last posting I have gotten a pacemaker and had to get a pain management doctor because my beloved GP can only write opiates for 3 months, which she did to...

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects

For me, there isn't just one medication that controls my WED. I take 4 medications of different classes, that, in combination, give me 100% relief about 85% of the time and the rest of the time it's still mild. Individually, 2 of those medications are contraindicated for WED, but for me, it works. I...

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects

I agree, the drug itself is a miracle in a bottle, but doctors have to be more responsible in dosing. It was a Godsend to me for almost a decade, but I cannot and will not ever take it again.

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects

So far I haven't lost the weight I regained on Lyrica. The hydrocodone and klonopin aren't helping as well as the oxycodone did, but I will have to wait until October (my pain mgmt appt got pushed back) to see if I can get back on it. I am not having any problems with the topamax at 20mg twice a day...

Pain Management Specialist

Since my new doctor isn't allowed by the board who oversees her clinic to write narcotics (my 10 mg of oxycodone per day) she has referred me to a pain management specialist.
I was just curious to know if anyone else went and do they really recognize WED as painful?

Thanks

Re: More on stopping Mirapex (sorry....)

Great job on getting off Mirapex Doety!!! It's not easy but it's rewarding to see the real you once you are off it. Deb, my am WED stopped completely once I got off Mirapex. My overall symptoms are now a 5 on most days and that is at night. My 2 cents on antidepressants, I am currently on a low dose...

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects

Hydroxyzine has never bothered my WED and I have been taking it off and on for over a decade. As for the amitrityline, I take it at 5:30 or 6pm and I am asleep by 9 and I sleep all night long. As for weight gain, I am losing weight again now that I am off the Lyrica. My doctor did warn me about the ...

Re: More on stopping Mirapex (sorry....)

Speaking from recent experience, the only way to get off Mirapex is to stop. No titrating, no rotating, no easing into it. Just stop. I did it with tramadol during the day and 10 mg of oxycodone at night. Others needed more, but I had to work each day so i made do. The first 3 days were hell and I p...

I cut down to 1 klonopin and cut out the hydroxyzene and will see what the night brings.

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects

I slept 15 hours was up for an hour and slept 4 more. That's the biggest problem so far, but WED didn't wake me up or bother me at all. I'm going to play with dosing this weekend.

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects

Here we go again. I got bumped up to 100mg of Lyrica 3 times a day. That's not gonna work. Even at twice a day I am so hung over I slurred my words and have more typos than a toddler on a Fisher Price keyboard. Plus, the med is making me get hives in places I don't get to show often and it is making...

Re: I'm new and want to share my experience

When I was coming off DA's and was taking 10mg of oxy at night, I never felt better. I had energy, was sleeping all night, lost 15lbs in a week..... Then I was started on Requip and my Lyrica was bumped to 300 mg a day and all that progress came to a screeching halt. I go back to doc on Fri. I am go...

Re: newbie on 3 rd night of Requip

The bad thing about WED, not that there is anything good about it, is that you need to know when you normally have symptoms and take the medicine at least an hour before that. If you let your symptoms set in, unless they are very mild, it is very difficult to get them to stop. When I took Mirapex, i...

Re: newbie on 3 rd night of Requip

I'm glad you're not sleepless any longer. DA's are little miracle workers. I took Mirapex for over 10 years; most of that time with very good results. You are very wise to opt to stick with the lowest dose possible. My 2 cents of advice is to stay at the lowest dose that controls your symptoms for a...
