Re: Just joined

He's sympathetic, at least I like your example of getting shocked on a battery, but somehow the shock comes from within? When I have whole body symptoms, my neck shakes and my head is like a bobblehead (under different circumstances it might be funny, but after enough sleepless nights I lose my sens...

Re: Tried a girdle last night

I'm thinking of an abdominal binder, but move it up to my chest?
It's really hard to describe the physical feeling I need to have around my torso, but if anyone would understand, it would be here 8)
Something like this?

Re: Are Carbs and sugar rls triggers?

I'm thinking about cutting out refined sugars/excess carbs but food is the only thing that comforts me during severe RLSWED, the sugarier the better. The need to eat something sweet while I'm walking the floors is almost primal. Any thoughts?

Re: Clinical Trial

I am constantly searching the clinical research trial databases in hopes that a study will come to my area. I would participate in a heartbeat. I'm also registered with Researchmatch.org but no luck so far. I keep hoping.

Re: Tried a girdle last night

That sounds like a great idea. I am female and of slight build. I'll see what I can find at Wal Mart. Maybe I could take an old t shirt, cut it open and sew some velcro on each side to make a corset? I don't know. I'm pretty sleep deprived so I'll have to play with it. In meantime maybe I'll just we...

Re: Weighted Blankets?

I'm interested in some kind of torso wrap, similar to those Hug vests for autism sufferers, but I don't have $600 to spend on one. I googled "Thundershirts" for people, but they don't make them. The first several pages of search results, however, were people asking if they make these and h...

Re: Just joined

Sleep deprivation is torture. I described this to my husband as being zapped with an electrical prod just as I am getting into the zone of falling asleep. Then this happens over and over, the whole night, every time you try to drift back to sleep. He didn't get it, but I can't blame him for that. He...

Tried a girdle last night

I've been having some next level of hell RLSWED last few nights, involving my head, neck and torso as well. It's unbearable, and I don't say that lightly. I put on a girdle, and that seemed to calm things down in the hip area, but I still felt like I needed something to wrap my torso. I couldn't thi...

Re: I have to share this fix that is working for me

I hope it keeps working for you. Just the thought of doing it makes me want to scream, lol. Tickling and light touch are two things that automatically GIVE me symptoms, even if I do not have any. I do not know if I could get myself to try this...OK, I just tried it. I lived through it . I don't hav...

Re: Published Research - General Sleep and RLS

This is a beauty, found by a friend of mine doing a google search. It is buried without links on the RLSF website. It's a slide show by Arthur Walters, an RLS/WED specialist, in which he summarizes many unconventional treatments for RLS/WED. He gives references for many of them too. The latest refe...

Re: Circadian Disorders and Depression

Most of us have it. The docs at Johns Hopkins are even studying it - when we get rid of symptoms, we're still awake. It's 1 AM as I type this and I while I'd love to get to sleep soon, I know it's unlikely. The best time in my post-severe-RLS-onset life was about 10 months when I went to bed whenev...

Simon, I too would love to help but I live in the States. If you're able to come over to the states I'm sure you could get some great interviews. Good luck!

I wonder if you were to save a little of your evening dose of ropinerole and take it later, during the night, this helps me.

Good tip! Thanks
