Ann, you sure have the best insight into this problem of anyone who's responded anywhere I've posted this. And what you say about health care and profit. wow. Have you been reading my posts on a certain other forum? You are 100% correct in saying we need to think outside the box. Unfortunately, this...

.... Give a government a foot in the door and they'll push it open wide so they can step their big fat butts through and take over...." I missed this first read. You're absolutely right, of course, BUT, they're already inside the door big fat butts and all, and not just with Medicare. And Obam...

Although I did live in Germany for a while, and really liked having government-run health care. It seemed to work well there, as it does in many of the Northern European countries. I've talked to other people from Germany and from Scandanavia who had much the same comments. That's why I think here ...

Anyway, the main thing I see wrong with your plan is the assumption that all claims are paid. That only works in a sociopath-free, fraud-free, thief-free society, and we don't live in one of those. Some claims MUST be denied or costs will run rampant. Ya, you got a point there. How about the point ...

Aiken, I think that those problems which you described (and thanks for doing so) are addressed by my plan, which retains the private sector provider model. From the standpoint of the patient, the patient is dealing with the private sector, from the standpoint of the provider, the provider is dealing...

Ann, I agree the BEST solution is to scrap everything and start afresh, but given the influence the insurance industry lobby has on Capitol Hill (well, let's not beat around the bush, they have Congress in their back pockets) then pragmatism is required. There's no way anything that cuts them comple...

I wish you would say, "Taxpayers pay $115". The government is not employed and has no income or money of its own. When the government pays for something, it's because it took money from taxpayers to do it. Correct, point noted, with one disagreement: technically speaking, the government d...

How the Basic Plan Works I decided to add this because I can see from the responses on the various forums I posted this that there’s a lot of confusion here. I think it’s confusion stemming from our concepts of how health insurance works having been influenced by the way it’s done now. There’s no g...

Under this plan people still have to do a song and dance to get the insurance company to pay, No, because the insurance company that pays the bill isn't involved in claims. And claims under this plan isn't a matter of trying to convince the insurance company something is justified and covered. Ther...

Remember, it's not universal care it's universal insurance . The universal is that everybody is covered by insurance. The providing of services remains in the private sector, same as now, but without the extra expenses and hastles of malpractice, Medicare, dancing a jig for insurance company to get ...

Request critique on universal health insurance plan

Hello, fellow twitchers (I can say that, can't I? I have RLS, too) I haven't posted much here, my RLS is pretty well-controlled by Mirapex and Lyrica, at the moment anyway my other health issues are of greater concern. But my greatest health concern is the soaring cost of health care. I've put toget...

I was prescribed Lyrica for my fibromyalgia and after taking it for a while I discovered it was also quite effective at dampening my RLS symptoms. I was able to cut my dosage of Mirapex in half. Unfortunately, the dosage level of Lyrica needed to produce even a modestly helpful effect on my FMS symp...
