Hello Joe I take Requip (similar to Mirapex) to control my 24/7 rls symptoms and it helps but is not good enough on its own. I do not wish to increase the requip in case of augmentation. So my doc, at my request, prescribes me Tramadol 50mg x4 daily which I take with the Requip. The tramadol makes a...

Hi Lewis You will find lots of great information on this site, and in particular the Mayo Algorithm for RLS, which many of us use like a bible, or rather we try and introduce our docs to it. My doc who is very willing but knows little about rls is more than glad to be guided by it. You will find the...

If it were me, I'd talk my fears over with doc, and then take it a step at a time.

Good luck

Well... the way I look at it .... without medication I had no quality of life, every aspect of my life was impaired, I was distraught. If medication gives me a quality of life, then I am not going to stop taking that medication, so there will be no problem with withdrawal. Unless there was an unacce...

From what I understand, yes it can just get worse, tho maybe there has been a contributory factor that you are unaware of. For instance, my medication cover is doing the best it ever has (tho not perfect) and yet for no apparent reason I can have an evening/night where rls symptoms just go mad, and ...

Out of interest, just how cheap is it likely to be possible to get flights from Chicago to the west coast. Our low cost airlines over here are starting to be not just so low cost any more.

3 years ago I flew from London to Edmonton Canada, west coast, a 9 hour journey. It was before my medications were properly sorted out. I had a low dose of requip and a few codeine that I requested from my doc specially for the trip. Part of the time I was in my seat weeping, part of the time I was ...

Betty, I also am an avid reader. I have been known to walk around my bedroom whilst reading, or leaning against the wall. :)

I am not always symptom free. But I am so.... much better. Taking a dose a bit late will cause a problem cos the symptoms get a chance to do their dance. Also, occasionally there can be a night when nothing works, but that doesn't happen so often now. I usually take an extra tramadol if this happens...

Hopefully you will be given strong pain medication for after the surgery, which hopefully will cover your rls symptoms.

I don't have to guess when the symptoms will kick in.

I have rls symptoms 24/7 but the symtoms still follow the pattern of being worse as the day goes on, so my medication dose is less in the morning, a little more in the afternoon, stronger in the evening, and a small dose during the night.

Good luck Betty, positive attitude and all that, works wonders.
Surgery is always a scary time, never mind having rls issues to think of afterwards.
Glad your surgery has been successful, now it is literally 'one step at a time' (bad joke)
