I have found that if I have having a particularly BAD night, one where it's about 3 or 4 am and the need to sleep is intense, but the torture is keeping me from sleeping....I make coffee and after a few sips, am out like a light! Go figure. I have no idea why this works for me. Maybe it's just a coi...

Temporal Magnetic Stimulation, anyone?

Ok...so my new doc is installing one of these machines in his office and since I have such trouble with my depression meds exacerbating my RLS and PLMW movement, he suggested I give it a try. I'm always afraid new meds/treatments might make things worse, but what the heck, I'm already crazy from the...

This also goes to exemplify the problem that sleep studies cannot diagnose RLS and should not be used for RLS at all Thanks! Bears repeating!! I've had two and have sworn never again! Both tests showed 'inconclusive results' and the reports actually blamed ME for poor 'sleep hygiene'. They just don...

Hi Kimberly, I found that, for me, daily methadone alone wasn't the right approach. But, I tend to have odd side effects. I used it for several years. There was a slow decline in cognitive function and wakefulness during the day. I'm finding it to work relatively well in combo with Mirapex. I augme...

....." While I am at the high end of dosages for opioids for RLS, this is very little compared with how much is prescribed for pain. People on methadone for heroin replacement take 100 to 200 mg a day in some cases. I take 20. ".... Hi Ann.....Since I can no longer take D.A.'s , have been...

Yikes, Kimberly. That sounds awful. What are you doing now? Nothing really. I do have a script for xanax to relieve some of the anxiety that comes with the inability to sleep night after night, but unless they can find something to stop the movement, sleep aids (which do not stop the movement) make...

Re: Augmentation from Mirapex???

I've been taking Mirapex for about 8 years so I'm not sure if I'm really augmenting or not. Sorry to hear you're having problems. I took a combination of Neurontin (1200 mg) and Mirapex for 10 years and last year I started severely augmenting along with having just about every side effect listed fo...

thank you all for your suggestions!

Is it not feasible to take any kind of anti-depressant at all? I thought there were a couple (wellbutrin?) that didn't generally exacerbate RLS. Unfortunately, I think I've tried them all, or at least one from each 'family', including wellbutrin, and all have, for some reason, exacerbated my moveme...

Pharmaceuticals = The RLS vs. Antidepressant Dilemma

I have finally, at least for the time being, got my RLS/PLMW under control with just the use of Neurontin, going off Mirapex & Cymbalta. Unfortunately, my depression is now off the charts and my Neurologist has said absolutely no more anti-depressants...all of which greatly exacerbate my movemen...

Re: Hi Ann, Hi Susan, and anyone else lurking on this thread

[/quote] First, that is so excellent! It's hard not to wonder...but I like the idea of not thinking about it at all and just living your life happily...until it changes. I just wanted to offer a bit of an explanation regarding augmentation. When you stop the dopamine drug when you have augmented, th...

Oh gosh Ann, your 24/7 symptoms on Mirapex sound like mine. Can you tell me how much you were taking and for how long? Also, when you tried to quit, what kind of symptoms (withdrawl?) did you have that required an opiod? Did you wean off it? How long did it take? Whats the 'DA'? Also, what did you t...
