Me, I'd see a rheumatologist. I think of podiatry being more to do with malformed structure, injuries, wear and tear, misuse/abuse, etc., than something like an joint that's inflamed due to a systemic disorder. Not to mention that if you start getting inflammation in other joints, a podiatrist will ...

kimmatus-- The only times I've had strange reactions to opioids were when I'd either taken too much, or mixed two or three varieties in close succession (not usually an issue, but it seemed to be one time). Mind you, my heart did quite the opposite, becoming slow and ... er, I can only say "gal...

I'd be surprised if fentanyl can make RLS worse. It's a strong opioid that binds to the mu receptor, just like most other opioids (oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc.).

I've had it via IV, for endoscopy, and it was just dreamy. :)

Maria-- Well, my solution requires that you have a peak and valley in your symptoms every day. I have a wide valley in the daytime and then about a 4-6 hour peak in the evenings. Basically, what you want to do is take only as much methadone as is required to cover the valley's symptoms, and then sup...

I think there'd be a pretty horrific backlash if they actually followed the panel's advice. Put together the people who need the drugs with the people who abuse the drugs and you'd have a hell of a lot of people pissed off. I wouldn't expect it to happen. Personally, I'd just switch to oxycodone (al...

What's ironic is that the acetaminophen is mainly there because the FDA requires a second component to discourage recreation use (for all the good that does).

It can only be done with debit cards that masquerade as credit cards. I think they're called check cards, e.g. a Visa Check Card. These are NOT good ideas. Have a real credit card for credit card use, if you can, and have a debit-ONLY card for debit use. (Banks usually try to give you a check card, ...

It may not be moving or kicking. You may be stretching, straining, or flexing in your sleep. Think of it as jaw clenching for your legs. The strain, or perhaps resulting cramps, may be causing your legs to burn the next day. For what it's worth, I get this sometimes, usually when I'm undermedicated.

I can't speak for the other issues, but one surgical issue that anyone over 30 is usually thinking of is the risk of simply being under general anesthesia. I'm guessing that's why you mentioned your medical POA. However, that risk has declined significantly in the last 20 years or so, with different...

I've been fighting delayed sleep phase for the last two weeks. I'm usually on a 3:30am bedtime, but lately I cannot sleep until about 6-7am. This is wreaking havoc with my work.

Alas, I'm just whining and have no solutions. :)

Testing for celiac isn't that hard. I've been tested (and don't have it). Might as well get the test... worst that happens is you don't learn anything new. Best that happens is you find out what you need to do.

Helen-- When do your symptoms peak? Mine peak maybe 8pm through 1am. The rest of the day they're pretty stable and, thank goodness, minimal. That's why I sort of do the opposite of what you're doing. Methadone has such a long half-life that what you take today is still half-there tomorrow. That make...
