Re: No progress yet

Viewsaskew and Badnights have some incredibly articulate posts about the approach to adopt with pcps when looking for opiates. They are dotted through the boards. It would be worth having a look through before your next medical appointment. I hope things are improving for you. Have you tried neupro ...

Re: No progress yet

You poor thing. It sounds like you need to sound your problems off a good medical expert. Have you tried Dr. Buchfuhrer? It is yet another awful aspect of this condition that it is difficult to arrive at an acceptible drug routine and it does seem to be necessary to keep trying different combination...

Re: Whacha readin?

I think it's a cool poem but I would hazard that she is untroubled with rls or the 'worse things' she refers to would manifest themselves twitchily inside her body rather than standing around the bed!

Re: Whacha readin?

I love my audio books - don't know what I would do without audible. They play on my ipod all night helping to deflect those awful despairing thoughts that can assail in the early hours. I particularly enjoy Terry Pratchett but anything that can be relied on not to throw up dark unhappy scenes is goo...

Re: Question about pharmas, augmentation, etc...

I am currently experimenting with various treatments having come off mirapexin earlier in the year after 14 years. I had a short (and very painful) period of no drugs - maybe 3 or 4 weeks like JimmyLegs. The immediate post-d/a period was very tough and symptoms definitely settled down from that. It ...

Re: What Severe RLS is Like

Yes; that's exactly how it is for me since coming off mirapexin at the beginning of the Summer - the new normal. At first it was intolerable but (although I still hate, hate, hate it), the middle of the night has become 'my time', a place only I inhabit. Symptoms have improved a lot just recently to...

Re: Need good news!

Hi Leggo, just saw some of your other posts and realise your problem is more PLMS than RLS so my observations are probably not much use to you! I really hope you find a good solution. It is possible that people who find that their symptoms improve - whether by finding an effective drug regime or for...

Re: Need good news!

Good news! My symptoms were truly dreadful for several months over the summer after I came off mirapexin in the Spring due to augmentation. I think I would have gone mad if it had not been for the support of this board and also Dr B - but they (the symptoms) have moderated somewhat in recent weeks i...

Re: Ropinirole + trazadone + clonazepam

I found that I needed 30mg of OxyContin in the evenings to make an appreciable impact on the rls. 30 mg completely quietened them - and felt very nice - but it did on occasions make me quite wakeful - I think it's called 'alerting'. It is unfortunate not to be able to sleep when rls symptoms are rem...

Re: Ropinirole + trazadone + clonazepam

That is beautifully put Yankiwi and so accurate. I am thinking of you Madmom - you are having a terrible time of it. I am more of a lurker than a poster and have found your posts very helpful. I really hope you are finding relief - it can seem so hopeless in the dark hours of the night with the ghas...

Re: OxyContin, oxycodone and severe anxiety

I am nearly 6 months into my post-mirapex-augmentation journey and finding it difficult to achieve a regime that copes with my rls and has tolerable side effects. I may have used the wrong phrase - by suck-it-and-see I meant that, at least for some, it seems to be necessary to try many options/combi...

Re: OxyContin, oxycodone and severe anxiety

I took 30 mg of Oxycontin per day for about 6 weeks and I did notice some anxiety when I was coming towards the end of the slow release period (ie after about 6/8 hours of taking it). Nothing like as dramatic as you describe however but bad enough that I didn't want to continue with the drug or take...

Joanie60 can I echo your comments about the wonderful, amazing, always positive, always polite, always encouraging moderators on this site - I cannot believe there are better out there. They pick us all up and help us along - and you are quite right - it would just not be possible to dump the level ...

Re: Getting off pramipexole etc.

This Board is a life-saver and the positive contribution you mods make to helping me cannot be overstated. It is like returning to a calm supported place just logging in here. All my plans are in disarray: I took my last dose of OxyContin on Monday, planning, as I have said, to alternate with my Neu...

Re: Getting off pramipexole etc.

Am so happy to read your post Steve and can very much relate to the pleasure methadone brings - if my experience of OxyContin is anything to go by. We might as well take pleasure in the enforced use of these drugs! Am conversely really sad to hear of your bad night Polar Bear. That is really cruel. ...
