I no longer have RLS and all it took was...

Just wondering if anyone ever followed up on my suggestion of taking Cream of Wheat or C.O.W. as some of you lovingly call it??

Update: I've been taking it religiously since I first wrote about in December on these boards and my legs are no longer restless.

I'm from the US and we are constantly bombarded with advertising on television about every kind of drug. Just recently are the ones for RLS. Personally, I don't think a pharmaceutical company should be allowed to advertise the way they do soap detergents. I think it puts ideas in peoples heads about...

Estelle,

FYI, if you can't get ahold of it, why don't you try Total cereal or Liver. The RDA is 19 grams a day. I figure I'm getting at least 20, because I'm taking COW twice a day.

Post again if you take it and see results, or if it doesn't work for you.

take care!

Moonlight - thank you for replying. Don't know where you're from but I'm curious if they're continuously showing commercials for some drug to help RLS like they are where I'm from? Let me know if you take either COW, Total or Liver and if it helps. COW is not the only food with high amounts of Iron ...

My point of starting this discussion in the first place was to help other people that had RLS as severe as I did, without the benefit of drugs or vitamins. Now I know there are people out there that are not interested in trying anything new, especially if it's not a drug. GREAT, then just stick with...

For those of you who want to try it and are having trouble finding it, go to creamofwheat.com/ Click on where to buy, that should help.

Mack, thanks for posting that. At least we're getting to the root cause of the problem instead of just running to the doc for the next quick fix drug!

Liver 3 oz. 8-9

Mack, now that you bring it up I do remember reading about liver being high in Iron. I don't know how much is in liver sausage but I did try it without any noticeable results. But eating liver might be a good idea for the ones who can't get ahold of COW.

more of my 2 cents...

The other food on the list high in Iron was Total, the breakfast cereal. Maybe that might be more universal than COW. Never took it for my RLS so can't really comment, all I know is 1 oz. is equal to 18 grams, almost twice the amount of Iron than in COW.

Mack, I use to have both if you can believe it. Poor circulation, and YES I had that creepy crawly feeling where you have to move around a lot and walk just so it goes away. It too was driving me nuts, that's why I was compelled to do something. Originally, I didn't think just taking a breakfast foo...

If I had to rate my pain on a scale of 1 - 10 (before COW) I would have given it a 10. I'm sure everyone reading this post can relate to the pain of RLS and how disruptive it is in daily life and even at night to the point of not being able to sleep. Even doing a simple thing like crossing your legs...

I now eat it twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Instead of 3 tsp. I use 3 tbl . Wonder if the amount has made a difference?? I think it has, but haven't tested out my theory. As of week 4, my legs still feel great, no more pain. Finally I can sit still long enough to accomplish some...

Ann, "Bettie, Mirapex and I didn't get along well, and crying was part of it. Please consider reading some of the posts to the newcomers and try some of the links to information about other drugs you can try, etc. It isn't the only drug to try and I think it's better to get off of it if it is causin...

Now I'd like to hear from any of you who have adjusted your lifestyle, mostly what you're eating, to relieve the pain you're experiencing from RLS.
