Sorry all-- I should have explained "dystonias"... it's a combination of muscle spasms and constant, uncontrollable, sometimes very violent movements... it feels/looks very, very similar to RLS. Most medical providers know more about "dystonia" then RLS so the term carries more weight. Since I've re...

Just a tip-- in general, the most common medications that RLS'ers get exposed to in a surgical procedure that can worsen symptomatology are the nausea meds: compazine, droperidol and reglan. Since reglan is almost never used-- I have simply taken the step of adding compazine and droperidol on my "al...

There actually is something 1/2 the half-life of methadone and double the half-life of hydrocodone--> oxycontin. Brig--Opioids are a lot like cars-- you really have to test drive them before you know whether they will work for you. Since you're having breakthrough symptoms in the middle of the night...

Tmom-- I've never seen hallucinations before with neurontin but when I googled neurontin and hallucinations there WERE reports of this happening in a number of patients. Any drug that has an effect on neurontransmitters has the potential to cause transient psychosis. In this case, it sounds like you...

This is a good reminder to folks to always, always double check your prescription before you take a pill. Pharmacists make mistakes-- but unlike other professions, our mistakes can be disastrous.

Aiken-I'm glad it turned out ok.

I've seen very significant methadone-induced torsades a few times in my career-- but in both cases, they were patients on very large doses of methadone. >150 mg per day. I found a link for a really nice paper on QTc prolongation and methadone. Those of you on methadone should read it: m This paper b...

Doety- I can't remember in your posts if you mentioned ever trying neurontin or lyrica for your RLS? I'm only saying that because even if I took 100 mg of oxycontin, much of my actual leg movements would still be occuring. I use neurontin in combination with oxycontin and have found that combo to be...

E- make sure your new found doc lists himself in the healthcare provider directory at rls.org. The more open-minded providers we know about, the better care we'll receive! congrats.

I agree with what's been said so far-- D, it may be that 1) your sleepiness is from the klonopin and not the methadone--in which case, maybe lowering your klonopin and increasing your methadone slowly will help with your RLS and lessen your fatigue 2) your leg movements are not responding to narcoti...

Just jumping in here to validate what everyone has said so far AND make it clear that even with computers, barcodes, and double-checks-- mistakes DO happen. MDs, RNs and pharmacists ALL make a mistake at some point. Unfortunately- any mistakes made regarding health are bound to be more traumatizing ...

My wife took ambien and had a 2 hour conversation with me that she did not remember AT ALL the next day. Complete black-out. The sleeper meds can be helpful but make sure you have someone close to you to keep an eye on you!

I've never seen hypertension with tramadol-- so it must be rare. Ibuprofen and drugs in that class (like aleve) can cause hypertension by causing fluid and sodium to accumulate. I would stop taking the ibuprofen if possible. As an aside- I also have hypertension that is much worse in the evening. By...

Coenzyme Q

I have been taking 100 mg of coenzyme Q for a 2 nights now and holy cow-- I wish I would of tried this product earlier! I know I've seen snipets of talk about this antioxidant for use with other conditions-- chronic fatigue, heart disease, etc- but thought I would try taking it for RLS. I should pre...
