Re: research on use of TENS for PLMs and query

I have had success with TENS therapy, and use it now. I have bad RLS. I first learned of it when a Physical Therapist used it for relief of some broken bones. I made a passing comment about my RLS and he suggest we try it on my calfs before leaving. It was heaven! I subsequently bought a simple ine...

Re: Published Research - General Sleep and RLS (WED)

This was recently posted in the blog. A new drug to help stop augmentation. I’m not a fan of drugs to prevent side effects of other drugs, but at least it is something. https://rlsfoundation.blogspot.com/2020/10/novel-treatment-method-for-rls.html?bblinkid=243700182&bbemailid=24694135&bbejrid=166979...

Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

I use Go Healthy Go Garcinia Slim Gold, 12 g and 600mg HCA. I usually take one capsule and 1gm Calcium Citrate first thing in the morning after an oxalate dump, which is around 2 times per week currently. Prevously during heavy constant dumping I took up to 4 per day with potasium bicarbonate, or I...

We can probably close this thread because the most recent survey addresses my questions.

Has Anyone with Hereditary RLS Ever Found Full Relief?

8) There are a number of people that have indicated they have completely cured or treated their RLS, either by diet, supplements, or other means. However, I’d like to know if any of these people have a family history of RLS? This may give some of us with familial RLS hope that we too may be able to ...

When Do Symptoms Occur? And, For How Long?

Hi,

I’m just trying to get a better understanding of my symptoms relative to others. I’m 34, I only seem to have symptoms for 2-3 hours a day, usually from 2-4AM.

When do your symptoms occur? And, how long does it go on for? Was this always the case? If not, how has it progressed?

Re: Location of RLS Symptoms Changing

I have been off medication for several days and my RLS continues to change locations, from my right scapular, to my right shoulder and, now, to my left shoulder. I’m not currently on any diets either. Stress is low, as I’m on vacation.

I’m wondering if this has any meaning.

Re: Is this how everyone with RLS ends up?

I just turned 34 and I have quite severe RLS. It’s been up and down, but humans are adaptive and find ways to live and enjoy life. My way of life has changed and the version of my life I thought I would have is much different because of RLS, but that isn’t a bad thing. I’m 100% sure my situation is ...

Pentazocine (Talwin)

Has anyone used this medication? If so, what was your experience? It’s not widely discussed on the board. I developed stomach issues from methadone so this was recently prescribed to me because it’s a kappa opioid receptor and does not impact the GI system the same way. I’m finding that it is very h...

Re: Location of RLS Symptoms Changing

Well, I had to come off Mirapex because it was becoming inconsistent and symptoms were bleeding through. Now that I’m washing out, it’s clear to see that my symptoms have gotten worse as a result of the medication. I was only on it for 3 months so I’m hoping it goes back to normal.

Inconsistent Sleep Quality

It seems like my sleep quality is always inconsistent. The medications are handling my urge to move pretty well; however, no matter how consistent my life is (stress, diet, exercise), it seems like every night I’m rolling the dice on how restful the sleep will be. Does anyone else have this problem?...

Re: Is it worth scrapping ever tiny bit of caffiene?

I do believe chronic caffeine consumption causes issues. It’s something I need to move away from. However, I’ve read that the tanin’s in tea inhibit iron absorption. I skimmed these articles just for reference so don’t shoot me if there are some holes; however, the research is out there. https://www...

Re: Location of RLS Symptoms Changing

Several of us augmented and it never returned to baseline. The docs usually try to say it is progression...but I think some of us are a bit skeptical. My baseline was very severe PLMS and very minor RLS. After augmentation, it was 24/7 RLS and severe PLMS. After treatment for augmentation, it was a...

Since that time, I have been through augmentation from two DAs and my RLS has progressed to the point where it is now rated as very severe.
Are you saying you augmented and it never returned to baseline? Or, are you stating two separate experiences?

Re: Location of RLS Symptoms Changing

My RLS started in my legs, 90% in my right leg. 35 years sgo. Then travelled to my arms. Moving to my arms was nothing to do with augmentation as it was way before I started taking medication. Both legs at the start. Arms after starting with Gabapentin. Whole body when I was augmenting. Did gabapen...
