Re: Gabpentin withdrawal time table?
It is not safe to stop gabapentin cold turkey no matter why you were taking it! For advice go to the facebook group Gabapentin Withdrawal Support. Great group.

Re: Gabapentin withdraw symptoms
Please do independent in depth research before considering taking gabapentin or lyrica, horizant, etc... I was given gabapentin and I'm having horrible withdrawals that have left me unable to work for a few months, as well as doing some bizarre things. I'm not sure if I have a job to go back to. The...

Re: Paradoxical reaction on gabapentin?
Thanks, Ann. The neuro PT discharged me after one visit, saying I have no neurological problem. I restarted the gabapentin, thinking I was worse off it, but have now also read somewhere that if gabapentin is **causing** a drug-induced movement disorder, and you stop it suddenly, for some reason the ...

Re: Gabapentin withdraw symptoms
I just had to pop back in here to say that if my chorea is in fact caused by the gabapentin, this is the drug that has caused several neurologists to treat me like CRAP, risk losing my job by being off work for weeks when I'm not yet eligible for FMLA, and lead various emergency department medical p...

Re: Gabapentin withdraw symptoms
I believe there's a withdrawal syndrome, however, I think it depends on the drug sensitivity of the person whether or not you actually experience it. Obviously, when taking it for seizures, it's not safe to stop cold turkey, which is what the pharmacist told me. On another note, don't EVEN get me st...

Re: Paradoxical reaction on gabapentin?
Great suggestion, I will check out the book! That was a pretty epic rant on my part, lol. It took me an hour to write it as I kept falling asleep. I found out today that the physical therapist I'm going to tomorrow is a neurological physical therapy specialist. That would have been really helpful to...

Re: I'm tired of fighting
Some of the opioid side effects is the timing of it. Try keeping a diary as to what time you took it and how long it took to go into effect. If you're waking up sedated, it's possible that you are taking it too close to bedtime. Are you also treating your depression? You sound extremely depressed, w...

Re: Paradoxical reaction on gabapentin?
Thanks, ViewsAskew. My friend with fibromyalgia brought up that maybe this is fibromyalgia. I hadn't even thought about that but that seems like it may be more likely than MS. I've had chronic pain for at least a decade. It flares up and down independent of anything I've been able to identify, somet...

Re: Paradoxical reaction on gabapentin?
Thanks so much, you guys. I take oxycodone 10 mg for the RLS which is very effective. I've been on it since a year ago October. Does anyone have a link to video of augmentation movements of trunk? I'm curious if augmentation is what's causing my involuntary movements. I guess even if it looks like a...

Paradoxical reaction on gabapentin?
Wondering if anyone has experienced muscle spasms, abnormal movements (big jerks--literally and figuratively ) and muscle cramping on gabapentin? Dose was 600 three times a day. Also having intolerance to heat, hot/cold, shivering, and elevated blood pressure, and night sweats. Also just getting ove...

Re: What Relationships?
My coping strategy is similar to yours but not so coherent - Also - a big one - I have lowered my expectations. I can't do as much as I used to, and I can't do it as well, but I'm still a nice person and have some intrinsic value. ... - Another thing I'm working on is de-stressing. My job has becom...

Re: Esophageal Spasm and RLS
I get esophageal spasm. One trigger is eating too much ice cream too fast. Another trigger is taking an opioid without a significant amount of food with it! Now I know the feeling, but it's very painful, and every time it happens, it still makes me wonder if I'm having a heart attack even though I'm...

saying hello
Hi all, I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I've had my 3 month anniversary on my new job and it's going well. I have 3 more months to go before I get off new employee probation. That has been my main focus these past few months. RLS wise, I am doing more or less ok on 5-10 mg oxycodone per night. I...

Agree, bassetmom. Sad and frightening. Infuriating at times too.
