I, too, use magnesium only in a drink called Natural Calm. I also take pharmeceutical grade calcium pills and omega 3 fish oil. My symptoms are almost completely gone. Not sure which substance might have made the difference, maybe all 3. As long as I stay off caffeine and sugar in the evening, all i...

Lynne, I have also had the violent shaking of my legs and sometimes my whole body. I have had MRI's of my brain and spine and they can find nothing wrong. The neurologist tells me its just another manifestation of RLS. I have found that the more sugar or caffeine I have, the worse the spasms are so ...

Evie,
I am on 10mg Buspar and 1mg Requip. I found I can't take the Buspar in the evening because it sends my legs into overdrive. I just take the Buspar in the morning and afternoon. I don't have RLS all day long so it works for me.

Russcat, I am on 1mg Requip and it works well for me. I've been on it for a year and started with the starter pack and worked up to 3mg at night trying to see if it would get rid of my leg spasms. It never did get rid of the spasms so I cut the dose gradually back down to 1mg and that works well for...

I've been on Requip for almost 1 year now and I have had that happen maybe twice. It's definitely a little weird but it happend after I went to bed before I fell asleep so I didn't really worry about it since it's not happening regularly. I would not want to be on Requip if I had that reaction all t...

Mark, He has never called them PLM's. He just says its a variation of RLS. Sometimes I wonder, though. Somebody else mentioned benign fasciculation syndrome. I looked that up and it sure sounds like that's what it could be. Although BFS talks about muscle "twitches". I would call mine more like spas...

Aiken, I have exactly what you describe! I also thought it was Parkinsons but my neurologist assures me it's not because I have no other signs of Parkinsons. I used to have the shoulder jerking too but once I got off caffeine, that part quit. I still have leg and hip spasms especially as I start to ...

I take a magnesium drink called Natural Calm and it took about a month before I noticed my RLS was better. On the B12 - I started taking extra B vitamins and noticed a difference in my energy level right away.

I have had some success with chiropractic treatment. He uses a rubber hammer on my knees - says he is resetting how my muscles fire. Anyway, it completely relieves the RLS for that one night, but then it comes back the next night. He also put me on high quality calcium supplements, Omega 3 fish oil,...

Linda, I used to have a lot of muscle twitches and jerks and found that caffeine and sugar were the culprits. I still have them when I'm drifting off to sleep or just waking up, but they are much better if I avoid those 2 substances. I'm also taking a magnesium drink called "Natural Calm" at night, ...

Not for me. I was never a coffee drinker, just tea. I had to give it up. I can drink decaf tea at home, but of course you can't get that in a restaurant.

I've been on Requip for 9 months now and doing ok with it. I was on 3 mg and got back down to 2mg. Now I'm going to see if I can get down to 1mg and see if it still works. Now, this is odd - I've been sick the last couple days with flu symptoms. I've been taking Airborne and the RLS is a lot better!...

I take Ambien CR occassionaly and it works well for me. My neuro says I can take it nightly if I want but I'm too afraid of getting dependent on it. I only take it maybe once a week. It's more of a security blanket than anything else. I know if I'm not sleeping well, I've got something that will wor...

Hi Frog Lady, I have the exact same problem with the spasms at night or really anytime I'm relaxing. I have questioned my neuro about whether this is really RLS and he tells me it is - just a different form. Requip has helped some when I first go to bed, but they usually wake me around 4am. The seve...
