Hi David, I know a lot of docs are reluctant to prescribe methadone, but you may be pleasantly surprised with the Mayo experts. If that is the med they feel you need, or part of a combination of meds, they could very well prescribe it without hesitation. My new neurologist is an RLS and sleep study ...

That is terrible! It's good your doctor is checking the iron. One thing you should do is check to be sure you aren't inadvertantly giving him meds that could make it worse. A lot of over the counter meds can make RLS worse. This link should take you to one of the posts that lists those. m There are ...

For awhile I tied magnets around the soles of my feet. It definitely helped settle my legs. However, once I tried tying them around my leg just below the knee and it sent the RLS over the top instantly. I couldn't rip them off fast enough. So, personally I would be afraid to try the mattress. Eliza

My new neurologist and I just had this discussion, except regarding Requip. He said it absolutely could be taken on an occasional basis. I haven't tried it yet though and from what Ann said I can see where the side affects could cause problems doing it this way. If I try it, I will take less than th...

I think tylenol PM makes RLS worse. Maybe someone can confirm.

Thanks,

Dancin’legs, I see you’re a student. If your school has a law school associated with it, they usually have a legal aid society where law students take clients for free. You might even check with any law school in the area to see if they would take your case. The law students are often enthusiastic a...

Thanks so much Josh for your reply. I do have muscle pain/aching, but only in spells. That is very good news that you haven't heard they make the creepy crawlies or PMLDs worse. I'll take your response to my appointment. I have a wonderful, open-minded doctor who has RLS herself. She'll welcome the ...

Are there any statin drugs that do not aggrevate RLS? Looks like I'm going to have to take something.

Thanks,

Eliza

Hi Joe, Charlene, I've heard that too from all kinds of authoritative sources - that quinine is helpful for the cramping aspect of RLS. I think I react to a lot of things differently from most people, but the quinine (tonic water) does help my RLS. Unfortunately it only helps once, then not again un...

Here is a time converter website: m If I'm doing it right, 8:00 pm Monday in Arizona is the same as 4:00 am Tuesday in London. It says: "08:00:00 p.m. Monday July 16, 2007 in US/Arizona converts to 04:00:00 a.m. Tuesday July 17, 2007 in Europe/London" That sounds aweful early, especially if you fina...

Hi Elizabeth, I have been taking 3 iron pills a day. I found that I must have a snack right before I go to bed. If my stomach starts to hurt during the night I get up right away and have hot milk and some toast. Basically I eat whenever my stomach starts to feel the least bit bad. It'll only get wor...

WAM, Wow – did you ever hit the nail on the head with your post. This is me. I have RLS, that’s a given, but the other stuff . . . I’ve exasperated two rheumatologists now, been tested for everything you mentioned and more – “Lyme's Disease, Thyroid problems, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis...

Lynn, it’s definitely in the muscle, but also seems bone deep. My muscles are always tight in my legs now, but shortly after going to bed they seize up tighter & tighter. I rub them hard, work on my feet, get up and stretch them; anything I can think of – and pretty much all night long. They fin...

Thanks Kathy. After reading the thread on Epsom salts I went out and bought some. Never having been fond of baths, I only soaked my feet before bedtime. Unfortunately, that didn’t touch it. Perhaps I need to do the whole bath thing – if it works, I might become a bath person after all. I’m sure not ...

Aching

I’ve figured out how to manage most of my RLS symptoms, but I’ve developed a new one – aching. I get a torturous ache in the night from my toes to my hips and my legs have rolling spasms along with it. Has anyone figured out how to manage that; with creams, diet or anything else? I have a lot of tro...
