Re: Ferritin Level
Beth, thank you very much. Although fairly technical, I have been doing acute patient care in the medical field for 30 years as a respiratory therapist, so I appreciate the science that's involved. My labs came back from my last infusion two weeks ago; serum ferritin 345 and iron sat 17%. Why would ...

Re: Ferritin Level
Thank you Beth. All my labs will be faxed to Dr. B, so I'll let him decide what to do next. He and Dr, Earley on the same page, right? In the webinar, did Dr. Earley mention what form of iron he likes to infuse? I know Dr. B. likes Dextran, but none of the infusion centers, including hospitals, use ...

Ferritin Level
I have elevated my ferritin level to 308 and the saturation is 29% but the RLS has not changed. Even though these values are in the normal areas, isn't the bottom line, the ferritin level in the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF)? Am I correct that this can only be measured via a spinal tap? And let's say ...

Re: vicadon or tramadol?
Tramadal makes me very nauseated plus it never did the job that a true opiat can do. But that's just me.

Re: Malignant RLS?
Interesting reading. So the bottomline is that they have created a subgroup that is comprised of the most difficult cases of those who have refractory RLS, is that right? Bid deal, how does that help anyone?

How much Vicodin?
Not doing well with the iron infusions. Will find out my levels this Friday. Still on between 2 and 3 mg Requip. Having to use up to 30mg of Vicodin between 4Am and 7Pm each day. Tough to get through a work day with that onboard. And yes I have become dependent on it. If I try to cut back, the withd...

Cold Turkey
I have seen several people that are contimplating or have actually gone cold turkey to get off of DA's. Let's say after a hellatious week you finally get them down to zero. But then what? You still have the disease and the need for meds. If you go back on the DA's and start ramping up the doasage, a...

Iron Infusion
Tried the medical marijuana. Didn't work at all. I have no idea why people use the stuff recreatioinally; it did nothing for me. Now I'm on to iron infusions. Started with ferrital level of 16. Am getting 100mg of Venofer once a week times four weeks then once a month. Today is my fourth infusion. H...

Re: Medical Marijuana
Yes Dr. B came up with the iron infusion and the medical marijuana options. I have to have back surgery in Sept, so I have some time to think this over. Dr. B. said no reason to come off the Requip and opioids now when I'll just go back on them post op. I have another appointment with him in Nov. Th...

Medical Marijuana
I have tried all the meds known to treat RLS; Neurontin, Horizant, all the DA's, Nupro patch, etc, and was told today, that because I go into augmentation so easy and have been taking 20 to 30 mg of Oxycodone per day for almost two years, that the only option I have is to completely get off of the D...

Re: Neupro Patch
Dr B. is the one who put me on the patch and told me to stop after the bad side effects of 1mg. I have been seeing him for 2 years. He got me down from 14mg of Requip via Methadone, Vicaden, Tramadal and now Oxycodone. I see him again on the 20th. But it's going to be business as usual. We're out of...

Re: Neupro Patch
I originated this thread about the patch. I found the patch useless. You start out at 1 mg for a week then ramp up the dose as per your MD. I took it one week. A nightmare. Nausea and sleepiness 24 hours a day and still had to supplement with Oxycodone Hard to deal with when your at work. Had the dr...

Neupro Patch
Got the patch. You start out taking 1mg patches for a week and then increase the dose per your MD. Have tried it two nights; not real impressed. Had to take 30mg of oxycodone after I was asleep for one hour, never really got back to a REM sleep. Looping dreams and weird disturbing stuff. I know it's...

I'm going to start the patch next week. Anyone out there using it yet?
If so , give me the pros and cons.

Re: Dosages of Requip
Thanks for the dopamine info. I've been as high as 14mg of the xl, went cold turkey with methadone and got it down to 2mg. Changed to Tramada/Norco and had to increase them in order not to up the dosage of Requip. Tramadal makes me sick so I prefer Norco, but like I said the fog is problematic. If I...
