Re: Attempting to get off Ropinirole - again
I totally agree. We need to push for ourselves. I tell my friends they need to be aggressive when they can't get an appointment or nobody phones or mails results of tests.

Re: Regular Sleep Schedule
Rat, I totally agree. Sleep hygiene is a joke for RLS people. We'd love it if it worked.

Well done, Ria, I'm really happy you've taken charge of your RLS and are getting sleep. We do have to become our own experts.
I started getting it in my arms but after starting iron tablets that stopped.

Re: When Do Symptoms Occur? And, For How Long?
I'm also a 71 year old female. My symptoms are in my calves, sometimes in the evening if I sit too long but always every 1.5 to 3 hours when I wake up. Every time. I need to stay up for at least an hour walking, stretching, rubbing, stomping etc while reading or watching Netflix on my iPad mini. Las...

I asked them once if they could put out a podcast but they said there were too many copyright issues althought they'd like to. If they release a playlist I add it. There range is totally eclectic.

Re: My visit with Dr. Rye
Ambien is not available in New Zealand. I've used a half tablet a few times (my sister's) on trans Pacific flights. Cliff was asleep for about seven hours and me only about three. Now that he is gone and I travel alone I don't dare take a sleeping pill on a flight by myself. Of course, no one is tra...

The program is called Matinee Idle idle@radionz.co.nz
If you can't listen today, they have 12 shows from 1 to 5 NZ time every year from the day after Christmas (Boxing Day).

Right now Oct 26 song program theme of sleep
If anyone wants to be entertained for a few hours, Radio New Zealand (RNZ National) has a song program on public holidays hosted by two guys who really know their songs, specializing in the weird. And with them is a college age son who brings his point of view. They just played a song by Boss Skags....

Re: What's the deal with magnesium?
I would never announce I had a hidden disease or condition but with RLS it's impossible to sit still so often I will need to stand up during a meal, movie or meeting then I have to say why. So many of my friends, even siblings who do not have it (most do) make all kinds of recommendations including ...

Re: Melatonin added to the mix
I've been interested in trying melatonin. It is a prescription drug in New Zealand, I'll ask my GP on the next visit.

Re: Location of RLS Symptoms Changing
Mine is in my calves and alternates throughout the night from one leg to the other. It's almost funny how I'll wake up with pain in one leg, walk, rub, stomp etc for an hour or two, go back to bed then wake up with it in the other leg. Before starting iron tablets a few years ago it was starting to ...

I live in New Zealand, there's no support here either. Your best bet might be to educate yourself through this discussion board and hope your GP is open to listening.

Hi Sleepy, for nasal congestion Claritin is okay, Flonase works for me unless allergies are really bad then I also take Claritin. For a cold I use nose drops. Day/Night cold medicine is usually a trigger for RLS.
Good luck, you're in the right place for advice and empathy.

Re: 1st post after 24 years of RLS
Pears have a lot of fiber, more than apples and kiwifruit is an excellent source of fiber. Avocados are high in fiber and high in price in New Zealand ($7.00 at one point last year but I call it medicine and have a half every day although I never needed to buy one at that ridiculous price.
