Re: Weaning off Ropinirole
Hi jblackburn67. It is almost impossible to switch without the help of an opioid if you are augmented. It may cover symptoms later (it doesn't always do that for those who have augmented), but gabapentin cannot cover the symptoms as you cut back the ropinerole. It usually take between 5 days and sev...

Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke
I was nowhere close to your 30 years, but meditated regularly for about ten or so years (I also swam about a mile 5 days a week, and am sure that they worked together to change my life). Losing that practice has made my life so much more chaotic. It was slow, but over time I've become more reactive,...

Re: Frustrated with it all!
And crap, I didn't realize Dr B is 70. OMG. What will we all do?? He's such a life-saver!! I mentioned that to Dr Winkleman recently when we talked about the RLS opioid study they are doing - what was I going to do when DR B retires?????? Move to a new state???? What a freaking mess this can be.

Re: Is augmentation permanent??
So evidently rapid augmentation, and permanent augmentation, is not unusual. And yet, and yet, STILL the medical establishment is convinced augmentation can only occur if you've been on high doses for years. So much education of medical providers is still needed. It really needs to happen in Medica...

Re: Is augmentation permanent??
Beth, that is "interesting" that you augmented in just 4 months because so did I, and not at a very high dose. Anybody else out there who augmented quickly and didn't revert to their pre-DA condition? Maybe it's a thing. It was for me, too. We know of at least a handful of people here who didn't re...

Oops.. I meant to say that people who play racket sports have less Alzheimer's and less dementia than people who play other sports I had been playing pickleball last summer until I injured my hip. Maybe I need to get back to it. If only I could figure out what was causing the hip problem, darn it.

Boy, do I hear you on the apathetic. When I was in my thirties and forties and the RLS was causing issues, I fought back. Now, as I get close enough to think about retirement age? I just want to make it through. I have no energy. I just don't care the same way.

No hot flashes for me. I get them, but it's hormonal in my case.

I also have never found that vacations help. Wish they did! Often mine is worse, usually because I tend to do heavy activity and that almost always makes symptoms worse for a week or so.

Re: Horrible side effects on pregabalin
I question how many people react favorably to this class -so many people report here that they aren't working. That said, many of us here, as with me, started with dopaminergics and the alpha 2 delta ligands do not work well for us. At the point most of us get here and our lives have been so negativ...

I am so sorry to hear that it hasn't improved any since I left. I was at my wit's end with it. But, very happy to hear you found a way to get someone who could help you, Valthinking! (and, yes, I would agree that my husband is pretty awesome)

No issues here taking it. I always take it on an empty stomach when I first wake up.

Re: Surgery and Covid
I read an article a few months ago about anesthesia and how it can impact memory (which may be the issue with the lack of recollection). Surgery often causes increased symptoms - many theories why, such as the blood loss.
Definitely talk to your RLS doctor and let the know about it.
