Re: Insomnia and RLS
No worries. I guess I just don’t see how GABA’s impact on insomnia relates to the Johns Hopkins study.

Could you elaborate? I thought they were connecting glutamate to insomnia.

Insomnia and RLS
Here is a possible explanation on why insomnia is so common in people with RLS/WED. This is just one persons opinion which is why I posted in the General Topics. m Insomnia is a common occurrence with RLS/WED. It has been linked to low GABA levels as a possible cause. Patients being treated with DA,...

Why SSRI’s Can Exacerbate RLS/WED Symptoms??
Here is a possible explanation on why SSRI’s worsen RLS/WED symptoms. This is just one persons opinion which is why I posted in the General Topics. If the body naturally raises GABA levels in order to compensate for the increased dopamine levels it could explain why SSRI’s can exacerbate RLS symptom...

How Opioids Work for the Treatment of RLS/WED??
Here is a possible explanation on how opioids work for the treatment of RLS/WED. I shared some of it with Beth and most of it with Dr. Allen. The foundation is based on scientific publications. This is just one persons opinion which is why I posted in the General Topics. We know RLS patients typical...

Re: Just Starting
I forgot to ask. Has anyone been on methadone for both the “R” form as well as the “S” form at different times and did they notice a distinct difference between the two?

Re: Just Starting
When I brought up the idea of going on opioids my neurologist responded “we don’t do that here”. My primary has referred me to one that will. How do I know which opioid to be put on? Is there a list of weakest to strongest? My understanding is codine and tramadol can cause augmentation. I know every...

Re: Just Starting
Thanks Beth. I was able to get Dr. Buchfuhrer’s book. I did bring up some of the things you have recommended prior to your post but I didn’t bring the book with me. Probably should have but I’m not sure it would have helped. Her only response to opioids was “different doctors treat differently”, I t...

Glutamate and Depression
Here are a couple of links tying in glutamate and depression. One study by Joslin Diabetes Center links high glutamate levels in the brain with depression. The other article by MGH ties in glutamate with the possible increased risk of depression. We know that Dr. Allen is currently running clinical ...

Re: Just Starting
I was wondering about opioids. When I get put on them what is the dose I should be put on? I know I can handle Percocet 5:325 from previous surgery. Is that to low? Does it need to be titrated? Do I need the acetaminophen part (I not in any pain)? Am I allowed to drive with them in my system? How do...
