Thanks for the replies. I guess my recent sleep changes are just a "normal" part of my life now, and probably not related to the medications I'm taking. I tend to react to changes like this by changing the medications I'm taking...but maybe I just need to wait and see if things settle down...

Neurontin and Sleep Difficulty

It's been a while since I've posted here...I've been doing fairly well with the 1200mg gabapentin, 1 tablet Norco 10/325, and 1.25mg clonazepam each night. The reasons for taking these meds are primary RLS made worse since spine surgery 2 years ago, idiopathic neuropathy, and painful post-surgical r...

Good morning everybody, Ann, this is great! First, let's see how many of us can distribute (to receptive doctors) a packet of some sort which contains the basic RLS information that we want in doctors' hands. If you could find out if such a packet exists, please let us know how we can obtain it from...

Zach, I think I'm getting your position...that Pharmaceutical companies could very easily attain a position of undue 'authority' in presenting their products for financial gain, and this in turn could impede our goal of respect and furtherance of education in RLS treatment and research. And Ann, you...

Zach, I get your idea about distancing ourselves from the pharma industry, but the fact remains that without this industry, none of the meds we currently use to treat RLS would exist. I understand your disappointment with the negative response of some individuals who believe that the pharmaceutical ...

Whenever I think of financial resources and clinical medicine, a few thoughts pop into my head (and I wonder where my headaches come from)...How many FDA approved medications currently exist to treat RLS? Who holds the patents on them? How many medications are prescribed off-label for the treatment ...

Ann, When I saw the Spalding Ave. address for one of the sleep groups locations, I feared that one of it's docs might be the "sleep specialist" that said that "insomnia isn't really that great of a problem."! Fortunately, he wasn't on their list of treating physicians. So do you ...

Ann, Thanks for sharing your experiences with specific doctors...I'll print your reply, and do some research. I'll also make another appointment with my PCP, and ask him to what lengths he'd go to treat RLS patients... referrals to specialists, prescribing medications on the algorithm, etc. Also, le...

Ann, Susan, PB, and Zach, I kind of knew beforehand what the answers to my question would be...I just needed confirmation of my experiences/observations. In my experience, of 4 neuros I've seen in the past 7 years, not one of them had the inclination to reach out beyond his "comfort zone" ...

What Kind of Doctors Treat Your RLS?

I don't know if this has been asked before, but in an attempt to identify in what general practice or specialty good RLS doctors might be found, can anyone here tell me what type of doctor effectively treats your RLS? Let's set up a few categories of doctors: 1) General Practice, Primary Care, or Fa...

GG, Good to hear from you again! As far as SSA disability, I've been told about how long it might take before any $ might come through, and I don't expect to see a first-try approval. Apparently, SSA considers any earnings above $940 in any one month as grounds for dismissal of a disability applicat...

Ann, I respect your experiences here in N. Illinois with trying to find a dr. who "gets it" as far as RLS is concerned. At the age of 61, I find that my RLS is worsening, and although not now as severe as some here have it, I fear about not being able to find a doc who can help me as thing...

Hi again, Well, I had the emg this morning, and I have to say that I have very little confidence in the neurologist that did the exam. I've seen him before, asking him about the accelerated changes in my RLS and pain since my surgery last March. This doctor just doesn't instill any confidence in me....

Hi everyone, Hope you all had a restful night. I finally got to sleep at about 3 or 4 this morning...I'm becoming quite a fan of late night tv...a few weeks ago I almost bought a total gym from Chuck and Christie. After a particularly bad bout with the RLS/pain/whatever, and even after the meds elim...
