Re: How do you see posts in order from most recent?

Go to the menu at the top left of the page, click on "Quick links" and pick what you want. They appear in date order for me when I do that.

Re: Dose for Iron Infusions - Injectafer

The International Restless Legs Syndrome Study group (IRLSSG) guidelines list the USA dose on page 31 as 750mg then repeated 5-7 days later (1500mg total). https://reader.elsevier.com/reader/sd/pii/S1389945717315599?token=51A42754AC1E81983A97DC03B09EEDE070E1BDC7B8778C62A2D2C872DCB3856092183DAC861C50...

Re: Ropin-a-ROLLIN over me like a semi truck

I have been slowly tapering off Ropinirole... The cannabis just isn't cutting it. I am going to write the doc tomorrow to see if they think Tramadol would help. I don't know how much longer I can hold out as I just feel really low and hopeless. Oh I am lucky, the doc did give me FMLA for 6 weeks on...

Re: Iron infusion question

There is a lot of variation, however, for most people, it takes a few weeks for the iron to have a noticable effect. The first set of IV iron infusions last the shortest time, 6 months or so is common, however, again, there is lots of variation. Subsequent infusion sets last longer, usually about a ...

Re: Medication?

Any references on the iron? My sleep specialist, one of the most well known on RLS, says the data just isn't there and advised against it as my lab parameters are all normal. RLS is caused by BID (Brain Iron Deficiency). Many people with RLS can have their symptoms markedly reduced or even eliminat...

Re: Iron Infusion - decreasing dopamine agonist

I'm in the same situation as the OP, but having augmented on Neupro instead of requip. My infusion duo starts August 9th. I also currently take 600mg of gabapentin. When I start to wean off of my 6mg Neupro (perhaps 4 weeks after my 2nd infusion), should I increase my gabapentin concurrently? Micha...

HI! Thank you for your feedback. Do you think that .375mg of Mirapex was just too low of a dose and maybe a higher does should of been tried before switching?

Jennifer

Jennifer, I agree with Betty. The 0,375mg of Mirapex is a high dose. The recommended starting dose is 0,125mg.

Re: RLS behind knee caps New to forum

Hi Jennifer. I'm glad you found us, but sorry you are having problems. My first thought on reading your post is that you probably should get a second opinion about the RLS diagnosis. I say this partially because you say you don't have urge-to-move. But urge-to-move is a required symptom for the diag...

Re: New Member - MHochner24

Hi MHochner24. Welcome, and I'm sorry you are having problems. I'm sure you have RLS if your neurologist and Dr Buchfuhrer say you do, Dr. B is one of the world authorities on RLS. As far as additional tests, there is no test for RLS, the diagnosis is made on the basis of your symptoms and examinati...

Re: Fentanyl patches for RLS

I wonder if fentanyl is actually better for RLS patients genereally than other opioids. I suspect it has been used only very rarely for RLS, so not much experience.

Do iron infusions create the same constipation effect as oral iron?

Michael
No, but then constipation with iron tablets is not universal, and constipation with ferrous iron is less common than with ferric iron preparations.

Re: My Story and Dilemma

Another perplexing issue for me is inflammation and ferrous blood concentration. From what I've read the more inflammation one has ferrous levels rise. This makes me wonder if my "natural" ferrous levels are very low. The last measured ferrous was 87. However, this was measured hours after eating b...

Re: My Story and Dilemma

I'm trying to get my head around the mechanism for iron infusions and why they work. Basically, iron absorption from the gut is body regulated, so ingested iron is limited with its absorption into the blood. Conversely, iron infusions add iron directly to the blood stream, and the hope is that with...

Re: Published Research - General Sleep and RLS (WED)

Conclusions Dipyridamole has significant therapeutic effects on both sensory and motor symptoms of restless legs syndrome and on sleep. This is a very helpful development in RLS treatment. The authors include people who worked on the much more theoretical article published a couple of years ago out...

Re: My Story and Dilemma

Both THC and Kratom are effective for treating RLS. THC doesn't do much for urge-to-move, but clearly helps lots of people sleep. Kratom has some opioid like effects, helps urge-to-move, doesn't help sleep as much. I and many others on this forum have and continue to use these. As far as safety... W...
