Re: Getting rid of PPIs (acid blockers)

Interesting story and I'm glad you got off the PPIs. I did have mercury exposure in my teens, but have never had my level checked. I may ask my doctor to do so next visit.

Re: Can some one help me please?

After a week with horrible symptoms, I broke down and took 900 mg of gabapentin. Is anyone on that dose or higher? I’ve had RLS for 20 years and have gone through all the typical meds. I’ve augmented on all of them . Two nights ago it also affected my arms so I was desperate. First, to answer your ...

Re: Published Research - General Sleep and RLS (WED)

... Current thinking is that ALL RLS patients, with the exception of chronic renal failure patients on dialysis, have BID. Can we be sure? There are a few cases of "miracle healings" that don't fit the profile of usual RLS patients very well - it could be that there is another small subgroup just l...

Re: Published Research - General Sleep and RLS (WED)

... Personally I find it very convincing that the majority of RLS patients suffers from BID. Of course, the interesting question is "why", and if there is a uniform mechanism or if there can be many different reasons leading to the same symptoms. And another question is whether there are small but ...

You do not need to stop the oral iron before IV iron is given.

Re: RLS or Inelastic Tendon Syndrome?

...It made me wonder if RLS is tension in the tendons, always at the end of their dynamic range, due to genetics and/or inactivity? My family doctor, who has seen my issues since I was a teen thinks I might be onto something... Welcome to the RLS community georget. You will find lots of helpful, em...

Re: Experience with Injectafer?

Curious, one of you reported that Injectafer is $1500 to $2000? I paid about $450 for 1000mg FerInject (same drug, different brand) in Germany, unfortunately healthcare providers over here do not pay for it. They are happy to pay a variety of much more expensive drugs including Oxycodone, ah well.....

My ferritin went from 60 to 90 over a 3 year period of taking 65mg ferrous sulfate +500 mg vit C daily. No change in RLS symptoms that I could tell.

I think we need to get away from the idea of "generally low iron" and realize that, except in very limited circumstances, that for proper functioning different organs nee...

... I will insist on the iron dextran or ferric carboxy-maltose this tie around. We also should be sure to recheck the iron panel 8 weeks later so we know what the baseline is for relief of symptoms. Thanks for your help. What a miserable disorder this is. Don't get anything except Injectafer (ferr...

Re: Started gabapenten - no relief

The ropinirole gets out of your system in just a few days. The problem is that the ropinirole has damaged your dopamine receptors, and they take much longer to recover. Most of the recovery occurs in the first few weeks, though it takes months before they get back to normal, and sometimes never get ...
