Re: Horizant- Delayed time to efficacy?
Once again it did not make feel sleepy until the next morning so I guess I'm just weird. I frequently have paradoxical reactions to medication. Join the club on paradoxical reactions—I too can react weirdly to medication: most benzodiazepines can be stimulating to me as are some muscle relaxants, t...

Re: Horizant- Delayed time to efficacy?
Hey FormerMermaid—just wondering what you ending up doing re: Horizant? I was prescribed gabapentin after augmenting on pramixepole to see if it would help with both symptoms and insomnia. It really didn’t do much of anything for so my sleep doc at the time then prescribed Horizant ER. That was a ye...

Good to know—thanks, Yankiwi!

Re: Got sleep? What's your jam?
Before moving to New Zealand in 1986 I lived in Moscow, Idaho and had friends in Missoula. We enjoyed cross country skiing to natural hot pools in Lolo Pass. Those were great times. I know where you speak: went to those hot springs on a college ski trip & that too was a lot of fun. There’s somethin...

Re: Got sleep? What's your jam?
As I sit here basking in front of my “grow light” as my spouse calls my full spectrum lamp, feeling quite good from a decent night’s sleep, I came across this topic. When I am rested enough, my joy is skiing, both downhill and cross-country. There’s a reason we live six miles from both in Montana. I...

Re: Thank you for letting me join!
They originally tried OxyContin for pain in the hospital and it didn’t even touch the pain so they changed him to Dilaudid but made him sick. He also absolutely hates the idea of going on opioids again due to family history. Thanks for the insight there though...didn’t even think of that. Silvrday ...

Forget to mention another indicator of augmentation: symptoms occurring in new parts of the body; for example, symptoms used to happen only in the legs, now they’d occurring in the arms or torso.

Re: Emergency Room Nightmare
Steve—I’m so sorry to hear what you had to get through in name of getting help. Your term “medical arrest” sums it up terribly well—an awful experience no one should have to go through when seeking help. Your experience resonates deeply with me for I too have been committed to hospital for a similar...

Re: Thank you for letting me join!
Because of all of his issues, we haven't been to a movie theater in quite some time. If he's sitting watching TV in the recliner he will occasionally get the urge to move his legs, but it does seem to happen as he's getting sleepy or if he's just exhausted...kind of twitchy like, if that makes sens...

Hello Silvrday and welcome! You’ve come to the right place for RLS/WED information, support, and community. It’s a great place to be for helping your husband and yourself find your way through this confounding and maddening disease. I was in the throes of augmentation number 2 when I stumbled across...

Hey Icantsleep—thanks for update and you’re welcome for the encouragement. It sounds like you’ve got a lot to deal with right now—I certainly hope your little one is recovering! It’s saddening to hear your current regime is not working for you...and that your specialist sounds pretty indifferent to ...

Re: Do hot baths work for everyone?
That sounds quite hot but if it gets you relief, albeit temporarily, that’s good! RLS never ceases to amaze and baffle me what works for one person but not another... For me, 102-103 degree soak for 20-30 minutes with a good amount of Ancient Minerals magnesium salts will bring me a couple of hours ...

Re: New Kratom User - when to take
Unfortunately all Kratom keeps me up, even the sleepy reds like Borneo or the fermented reds which are known for there sedative abilities. That is too bad; it’s one of the reasons I like taking Kratom. But anything other than red Borneo or Bali is like too much caffeine: makes me jittery and edgy, ...

Re: Coping with Chronic Illness
I have had to keep coming back to some of these lessons. OMG-so true! Story of my life  The worst, for me, is when I feel good. When the meds are working well, when the other chronic things have let up. I think it's normal again. I think I can work full time. I look for jobs, I dream of start...

Thank you, Ann, for posting that link! Reading it just helped me feeling a whole lot better about my choice to stay in bed and rest today while my spouse and friends went skiing. And it will help me figure how to pursue my hobbies (photography and writing) within my reality of each day’s here and no...
