Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
For about 7 years I took .50mg of pram. When I augmented on that I was switched to the longer-acting Neupro patch(2mg). But the augmentation continued and was very bad. I decided to get off the patch by lowering the dose to 1 mg for 14 days. I have been off the patch since July 15 and am taking clon...

Re: RLS and Clonazepam
I hardly have any, which is a blessing. I understand that many people do.
It is this blessing that made me wonder what was going on this morning.

Re: RLS and Clonazepam
Views: What prompted my posting was the fact that the incidents I described happened twice this morning between 9.30 and 10.30. Each time i was awakened from a deep sleep. Daytime RLS is rather infrequent for me. I thought Dr. B's comments which specifically mentioned clonazepam might have been the ...

RLS and Clonazepam
I have been off a DA for fifteen days and am not seeing any noticeable improvement. The only drug I am taking to cover this withdrawal period is clonazepam. I am experiencing some daytime breakthroughs which is unusual for me. Dr. B on pp.138-139 of his book suggests that the benzo class of sedative...

Re: Driving me crazy
As already stated, I will be seeing Dr.E on Sept. 1. Knowing his preferred regimen, and with the help of a local neuro, I took myself off the Neupro patch and have been using only clonazepam. If I remember correctly ten days is his minimum period for a drug holiday. He prefers fourteen. Dr. B (God b...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
Sorry to read about your experience in spite of your valiant effort. I am going through the so-called drug holiday in preparation for my visit with Dr. E on Sept 1. I am not having an easy time of it even though today is my tenth day of being drug-free. It is hard to get methadone prescribed where I...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
I have been off the DA for about a week. I am using only a small dose of Clonazepam. When I first was off, my symptoms were worse than when I was on the Neupro patch, which was to be expected. However, I was surprised they weren't even worse than what they were, given what Dr.E. says in the Webinar ...

Re: Driving me crazy
Ann: I applied my last 1 mg Neupro patch on Sun.July 12 and, following the advice of my local neuro, left it on until Wed. July 15. That means I have been completely DA free for 6 days. My drug holiday is not completely drug-free as I take a small amount of clonazepam to help with sleep. The amount ...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
Thank you all for your support. The only helping agent I have is clonazepam (0.2 mg) I take 1/2 pill
at supper and 1 pill at bedtime. It doesn't do much for sleep until the rls calms down. I hope it
doesn't interfere with the resetting of the dopamine receptors.

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
I am following Dr. Earley's regimen as I see him on Sept.1 I thought I would like to have all the "hard work" behind me when I see him. I don't have too much breakthrough during the day. My horrendous symptoms start between 7 and 9 p.m. and last until 3 to 4 a.m. After that I can get a few...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
I thought that using an augmented DA was hell but it was nothing compared to what I am now experiencing withdrawing cold turkey. All the predictions of others are true: constant twisting and turning, and writhing in agony without any relief. I hope this gets begins to get resolved within the 5 days t...

Re: Driving me crazy
WBruce: I took my last 1 mg. Neupro patch on Sunday night. I used a 1 mg patch for 14 days to wean off the 2 mg. patch. The neuro told me to keep the last patch on for three days (to take advantage of any residual rotigotine) This means it comes off tonight(Wednesday) Now I will be flying completely...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
I used the last patch last night. My moment of hell is about to begin. During this time, is
there any relief at all from rls symptoms or should I expect constant non-stop 24/7 symptoms?

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
I thought the same as you, that an opioid is necessary to get off a DA. However, reading some of Dr. Earley's online material, I don't think he prescribes opioids so that the dopamine receptors can reset themselves Since cold turkey is his way, I found myself wondering why I should wait until my Sep...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
I have never gone five days without any drugs. I got off .50 mg pramipexole by using the longer acting 2 mg Neupro patch. However, I just ended up by augmenting on the patch. My current object is to get off the patch, first by using the 1 mg patch and then nothing. I am following the titration direc...
