Re: question - any other opiate better?

It's been about four months since the last post in my thread here, about what medicines I should change to, since my old meds weren't helping my legs as much. Also, my meds helped me feel better in lots of achy places that I had no idea bothered me in the very beginning of this saga waaaaaay back al...

Re: The FDA is about to change our lives

I started a rough draft of a letter to the FDA, pointing out the problem with all opiates being 90-day (some already are that are Schedule I and II, I think). But Lord knows when I'll finish it or if I'll even send it. My mind is confused these days. I think perhaps a counter-petition is in order, p...

Re: How bad are your spasms

TEACHER, I agree with Ann, medicine is the solution, might take trying out a few to get things straight, it's an ongoing process, but the drugs do prevent one from going crazy and settles the legs down.

Re: How bad are your spasms

I've had all sorts of strangeness with my RLS. Started in one leg, eventually both, got in my arms, and a couple times I nearly jerked right out of my chair! Really startling. The most movement I've had is when my legs get to kicking in the bed. One time I was pulling some support knee-high stocking...

Re: Venting on the attitude of my(soon to be former) Drs.

CMOORE, may sleep, blessed sleep, visit you soon, so you can feel like a partly regular person again. I can't understand how come the opiate worked for such a short while for you. Less is more on that issue, so smaller regular dosing with what you have left might work. I remember when I had untreate...

Re: Venting on the attitude of my(soon to be former) Drs.

Cheryl, glad your physical and mental are starting to level out. My computer was down until yesterday, so just now caught up on your news. I'm very pleased you have that Neurology Institute place to go to! I really hope it works out. Polar Bear, dah'lin, I saw the Beatles in Baltimore in about 1964,...

Re: Venting on the attitude of my(soon to be former) Drs.

My dearest Cheryl, Perhaps I know what is a little off on your new pill regime. You may recall I suggested to NOT take any meds at least a couple hours before bedtime, and this is because opiates CAN keep a person up. But you see, I also take a tranquilizer, and so while I observe the primetime TV s...

Re: Venting on the attitude of my(soon to be former) Drs.

Hi Cheryl, Here is a government website for neurological disorders that is concise and mentions the categories of drugs used for RLS that I had talked about before: m It is indeed the Vicodin that is helping your RLS settle down, and it's also making it easier to get off the Mirapex. Anytime you hav...

Re: Venting on the attitude of my(soon to be former) Drs.

Hello there Cheryl, I am SO sorry to hear you have been through FIVE YEARS of misery because of all these docs' complete lack of knowledge about how to treat RLS. And I can tell you this, since it was almost a year before I went to see a doc about my RLS, I know precisely just how nuts you can get i...

Re: while standing at work?

Hi SJORDAN! I've noticed whenever I "overuse" my leg muscles, they'll bother me more. Like if I walk thru a lot of stores I might visit one day, or if I exercise more than usual, my legs will drive me nuts when I get home. I'm sure you stand on a mat of some kind, but if not, you should ha...

Re: miserable

Oh, well, insomnia, POLAR. Tramadol I have heard can keep some people a little amped up at night, too, altho could be you've had this since before that. I assumed it was the RLS, since that's what keep a lot of us awake. I went thru a period of insomnia, and back when I used to work, it made me mad,...

Re: miserable

MOONLIGHT, I wonder how come you try to save your codeines until later... if you won't take them when your legs are acting up, then when SHOULD you take them but then! And if you don't have enough, keep asking your doc until he relents. I CAN tell you a little something to make you feel better about...

Re: Having another bad night.

VIEWS, that's funny about your plants. ALL, here are few half-way tips that will HELP (maybe) next time you get in a jam with no meds or whatever: 1. Buy some knee-high support stockings at the grocery store. When you go to bed, put them on. They will usually allow you to at least fall asleep 2. Str...

Re: Just got my appointment notice with a Neurologist

PAB, oh yes, seeing a neurologist is a very good idea. I mean, you're having problems, and so your regular doc is wanting to make sure you get better care on this issue. Mine was really great, still see him now for back issues. He tried a few diff drugs to see how I did, and we settled on the one I'...
